UY 165 cover step-by-step

I sent in the cover for UY 165, the final chapter of Mouse Trap, a story involving Usagi, Inspector Ishida and his nemesis, Nezumi.

Drawn on 11x17" 2-ply, cold press Strathmore Bristol board with a 10.5x15" image area. The top quarter of the cover will have a banner with the title of the book.


rough pencils drawn with HB .5 mm mechanical pencil

finished pencils drawn with .5mm B mechanical pencil. Perspectives are drawn in at this time.

inked with Koh-i-Noor ArtPen and Badger Black Opaque ink (old formula)

pencils erased with Sumo black eraser.

blacks added with a brush pen and Badger ink, and textures drawn with Koh-i-noor fountain ArtPen

I love seeing these. Seeing the transformation of details is really interesting.
