I'm working on Usagi Yojimbo #156: The Secret of the Hell Screen--An Inspector Ishida Mystery, part 2.

This is the first page drawn on 11x17 inch 2-ply 500 series cold press Strathmore bristol, with a 10x15 inch image area.

Rough pencils done with 2H 3mm mechanical pencil. The borders were drawn with a 3.5 technical pen and lettering with a Rotring Sketch Pen, medium and bold nibs. The Aames lettering guide was set at about 3.25. The title lettering was done with a brush.

Image
First wave of inking with a Koh-i-noor ArtPen filled with Badger Black Opaque ink, old formula.

Image
Pencil lines erased.

Image

Blacks were spotted with a Pentel Brush Pen filled with the Badger ink, and textures made with the Koh-i-noor pen.

And finished.

I'm writing another Inspector Ishida mystery now where a Shogunate official is killed by fugu poisoning.

Cool! I don't think I would ever eat fugu, no matter who is the master sushi chef.

Question: I think I have seen a fish character in Usagi's universe. But that might be faulty memories. Are fish characters part of the Usagi's world or are they just food?

Peace, maka

They are just food, though sometimes I will toss in a random non-mammal character just for the fun of it. There have been amphibians people and, of course, Lord Hebi is a snake. I don't recall any fishy guys, though.
