Tomoe was also trained with a sword since she was girl, already showing exceptional skill even at that early age.

While Beatrix did defeat 88 (or there abouts) bad guys, there were sub-par swordsman and showed some measure of weakness against O-Ren.

Tomoe was always more than a match for those she fought.
