After finally reading all 7 issues in a row, I wonder, why nobody yet started a conversation about it.
Acutally I rather prefer the Storys, that go about one, two or three Issues, but I think, this one is better than the 2 Grasscutter-Series, though it seems to me, that it is geting harder and harder for new readers to catch up with usagi.
The story has more tention to it than Grasscutter 2. Stan is, as we all know, a master of storytelling and this is one of his finest works.
I like Stans loser style of drawing, he has developed over the last 6 Years or so as well.

What really suprised me, was the end of his clash with the "Orphan-Maker". Such a cruel behaviour (though killing is rather obvious even more cruel) is unusual for Usagi, and I wonder if it fits in the development of Usagi's charakter, of if we are witnessing a new step in the development of his charakter, or if Stan just decided to let Usagi act this way without giving it to much thought.
Anyway, the "Orphan-Maker" was a charakter which fascinated me, especially, as I have the feeling, that many of the badguys are often drawn to onedimensional and without being more than just a Orc being killed without giving it a second thought. I would love to see the "Orphan Maker" making a comeback in a future story and to learn, how he deals with his blindness.
Another Problem I have: With the exception of Gen losing his horn, the major charakters alway survive unharmed, while the simple Samuari and marauders get killed in dozens. The Ending leaves me a bit undecided: When I read it, I nearly got a little angry, thinking: "Oh my god, DOES Noriko HAVE to survive? Every unnamed ronin would simply be dead, when being in a mine, while it explodes. But heck, no, she has got to get away.
But then having Tomoe wake up and having this as a dream was absolutely brillant, leaving the reader sharing the same feelling of uncertainness about Norikos death. Really great idea!
And of course we are left with somecliffhangers as well: Horikawa and his intrigues and first of all Tomoe and her possible marriage.

Once again a great story.

You're neglecting Zato-Ino's wooden nose, Katsuichi's eyepatch and even Usagi's scar. I'm sue all off the characters would ahve plenty of wold wounds and scars but you can't dwell on those all the time.

You're right about that. And of course it's hard to let an important charakter die or get crippled. As an author you dislike the idea, and many readers will be disappointed. How shocking was it, when in my favourite comic-series the main charakter died after 12 books.

For me, I loved Noriko. She was a wonderful bad-guy, woman, whatever. I hope she comes back real soon.

As for the Orphan-maker, I thought his fate was profound indeed. Certainly shows an evolution in Usagi's character.

For me though, I enjoyed the Second Grasscutter. Mostly cuz it had my fly-girl Chizu in a prominent role.

This was a good series, but it felt just like the beginning of a more complex story, for which we are entering right now.

I liked the arc but not as much as I liked Grasscutter and Grasscutter II. I don't know, something about the ending just didn't do it for me.

damn, I'm getting jealous I'll have to get the coomic book in english as soon as it comes out.
And yes, other characters suffer injuries and even dye.... I liked Takeda a lot, but he died in a propper way.
