Iron Monkey.

Post by Robert Wetherelt »

Whoa dude...must not have been the same film!!!There's an older film of the same name, but,it's one of those badly dubbed "chop-sockey"flix. The one I'm talking about was done by Tsui Hark & presented by Quentin Tarantino. And as I said...the fight scenes are amazing!!! In Crouching Tiger I could so tell that it was wire work! I could practically see the wires!! And the swords looked so flimsy! Watch Iron Monkey again and give it a chance! And make sure you watch the right one. Ja,mata.

Another cool movie with some outrageous fight scenes was The Transporter... bitchen! Of course, I am counting down the days to Matrix Reloaded...

The trailer for Matrix Reloaded is already avaibale for download on the internet, and boy, it sure does look BADWORD-kicking... Transporter was a cool movie as well. However, if you can, try looking for films which have an actor called Mark Dacascos, he's one of the best martial arists ever... (he was the native American in "Le Pacte des Loups"-Brotherhood of the Wolves).

But if you're looking for the ultimate martial arts movie, the one that rules them all, then that movie should be...

SHAOLIN SOCCER

If you have not seen it, get it by all means: it's one of the funniest, coolest and more enjoyable movies I've ever seen. You can probably get an import DVD from Hong-Kong or Japan (I think the Hong-Kong DVD has English subtitles), and I've also seen region 0 DVDs (which should be playable on any DVD player, no matter which region you are in). You can also find the movie in DivX ;-) format on some P2P networks (e-donkey2000 or KaZaA) with subtitles, however, this movie deserves to be bought. I think that Buena Vista or some other distributor has bought the rights to distribute it on the States as well as Europe, but they're gonna edit some parts and change the (outstanding) original soundtrack for some (crappy) comercial songs; so if you're like me, and you like to see things done right, get the original version. You won't be disappointed :)
