Shocked and Dismayed!!!
I went to a Convention this weekend . It was a horror/sci-fi/comic/anime/gaming Con. I went there hoping to get some back issues of Usagi and Groo...and was I ever disappointed!! Of the ten comic venders there, only one had any Usagi comics!! And they were ones that I already had!! What a bitter disappointment!! I felt discriminated against! The excuse I got was..."Oh, we carry them, but ,we just didn't bring any." I was disgusted! On a brighter note I was able to find at a couple of stores in Toronto and Mississuaga...3 samurai flicks...1.) "Kill"( Kiru), 2.)"Incident at Blood Pass"(Mifune Toshiro's final appearance as the "Yojimbo" character.), 3.) "Zatoichi meets Yojimbo" and a twin pack of 4.)"The One-armed Swordsmen" & "The One-armed Swordsman v.s. 9 killers".( I also like "period" Kung-fu flicks.) But...all in all, the Con was a bust! I am sooooo bummed out.

Unfortunately, Usagi is so unique that he doesn't fit neatly into any one genre. He's not exactly manga, and he's very different from what you'd expect in most anthropomorphic titles. So the superhero-oriented conventions don't have much of him, and the manga/anthro cons don't pay much attention to him either. That's why I'm glad we have the Dojo. I acquired most of my collection here, either directly or by having other members point me toward good vendor sites.

Yes the Con was the one in Toronto. I went there with great expectations and came away disapointed. I just don't think its fair that we get excluded in favor of the superhero genre. I think ALL genres should be represented at a comic convention! And not just the "long-underwear" types! We matter too! I probably won't go to this Con again next year! Again...I am soooo bummed out.

I was at that con last year and got a few Usagi issues that I was missing.
I got two copies of issue 1 volume 1 and a set of Usagi volume 1, issues 1 to 5. I paid considerably more than the issues are worth, but what the hell, I really wanted it. And I also picked up the Usagi Yojimbo roleplaying game.

I was looking for some more recent issues. Ones that are in the new trade paperback "Father & Sons". I have alot of the older issues from "Critters" to "Fantagraphics " on up. I think that I'd have to go to just a Comic Con alone. Not something that was so divided up as this Con was. But Cons up here in the Great White North are few and far between.

You really, really need to share a scan of the cover of that super rare limited edition Usagi RPG you picked up at the convention last year. Not the advanced release edition with Usagi and Gen, or the regular edition with Usagi under the Autumn Moon, but the third one you mentioned some time back...MikeM wrote:I was at that con last year and got a few Usagi issues that I was missing.

That might be the same image that was used for UY: Glimpses of Death. I've since asked Sanguine to discontinue using that cover.Steve Hubbell wrote: You really, really need to share a scan of the cover of that super rare limited edition Usagi RPG you picked up at the convention last year. It would still be nice to have a cover scan of the RPG book to possibly post here on the Dojo along with the other two cover variatins for the game.
Maybe a page can be set up featuring the artwork and details for the Sanguine, Goldrush, and C-64 games grouped together under a Usagi Yojimbo Games section.
Abayo.....

A friend of mine owns Worlds Collide, which is in Oshawa. He can order Usagi comics for you.
