Stan, not sure if this was influenced by your book, but one episode of the old "Garfield" cartoon was entitled "Yojumbo"

Here's the full info:
62. 2-23 G021-B 07-Oct-1989 Yojumbo

I know yojimbo means body guard, but isn't it kind of ironic that your comic was being published (I think) when this was made? Plus they're anthromorphic (sp?) characters.

Just for shots and giggles.

Garfield...

Did you happen to notice if Mark Evanier (co-worker of Stan's and Sergio Aragones on the comic Groo...) was credited as writer for the episode? I believe Mark has had a long association with the Garfield cartoon series... and he was probably, but not positively, responsible...

Question for Stan Sakai or Mark Evanier: Is there a funny story or situation which influenced this episode of Garfield?

Mark was the head writer and voice director for the Garfield cartoons. I haven't seen any of them so I don't know the episode.

That's unfortunate... the Garfield and Friends TV show was probably one of the best-executed cartoons around. The scripts were witty and the animation was very decent. I've gotta hand it to Mark, damn good job.
