If we are talking existing characters, it's a toss up. Sanshobo or Inspector Ishida (BTW - not listed in "The Cast") has to be some of the best characters in comics today. LOVE EM!
Niccolo mentioned another visit from one or all of the TMNTurtles, of which I will never argue with

All things appear and disappear because of the concurrence of causes and conditions. Nothing ever exists entirely alone; everything is in relation to everything else.

Sorry for my necro-posting, but we've got the same problem with Toda's identity on the Polish Dojo right now (and the discussion unfortunately became a bit heated). So I decided to address Sensei directly with this matter. And I didn't want to create a whole new topic for such a petty issue.Todd Shogun wrote:I've got a question that's been bugging me for awhile. What kind of animal was Buichi Toda (Mifune's traitorous general)? In "Goblin" he looks like an Ox-based animal with a horn on his nose like a rhino. Any speculation???
So Sensei Sakai... which animal represented Buichi Toda before he morphed into that gruesome goblin? Our bets are that he was either a cat or a human.

I deliberately hid his face, just to make the reader wonder what he really looked like before his transformation.Robweiller wrote:Sorry for my necro-posting, but we've got the same problem with Toda's identity on the Polish Dojo right now (and the discussion unfortunately became a bit heated). I can't help but think of Tom Robbins' novel "Villa Incognito" when I hear Tanuki...He COULD be a very interesting character...takematsu wrote:Er... ah, nerts. I was going to suggest some naughty Tanuki sorceror to cause Usagi headaches, but the I remembered that tanuki-bozu in Wrath of the Tangled Skein. Of course, if Sakai-sensei is inclined to give them the same dispensation as foxes (mystical, myth-wrapped critter, BUT ALSO valid "character race"), the way is clear.

For a look at a Tanuki clan including a pretty intimidating wizard, check out Stan's contribution to Dan Brereton's "Nocturnals: Troll Bridge" published by Oni Press in October 2000.
