I just got the reminder email about the Groo 25th Anniv and UY gathering. But I cannot get Thursday nor Friday off from work. Also, my timeshare hotels are all book around San Diego...including Oceanside and Carlsbad. And I'd rather stay in SD rather than drive back and forth from Los Angeles.
I just needed to share my frustrations. I really wanted to go this year.
Anybody have similar problems like myself or want to share their rants?

I'm very sorry to hear this. I had a similar problem last year. I had been to SDCC in '03, '04, and '05, but last year as summer was approaching, I was looking for a job with no luck (I'm a TA/AI at the university during the regular semesters, but summer work is tough to find), and then my wife had a huge falling out with her boss and decided to quit. We were both unemployed for almost a month and completely ran through what little "vacation money" we had saved by that point.
We had to completely cancel our vacation plans and were unable to do much other than work so that we could catch up on bills and such. But everything worked out eventually and now we're back on track. I'm in San Diego on vacation right now just waiting for SDCC to start.
I'm sorry again, but I definitely feel your pain. Good luck getting back here soon!
It sounds like everyone's going to have great time; especially on Friday after Stan's signing. It'd be great to get together and have a group DOJO picture!

I'm going this year and live in the LA area....I'd be willing to pick something up for you if there was something you really wanted to get.
