I started reading Usagi comics in the mid 90s during my elementary school years in Hawaii. I can still remember buying my first Usagi trade at the local comic shop in town. It was book 3 with Usagi and Spot on the cover. After reading it I was completely hooked and my fascination with the Usagi stories has continued to this day. This past summer I finally finished recollecting all the trades that I used to have as a kid and also collecting the ones I never had. Reading through all of them now is just as enjoyable as when I read them in my younger days. I just wanted to take the time to thank you Mr. Sakai for providing me with some truly timeless comics. I am eagerly anticipating the next trade installment this summer and I hope that you continue to craft more excellent stories about our favorite rabbit ronin for many years to come. Thanks again!

Aloha, Matt!
As you may know, I am from Hawaii. I used to live in Kapahulu, went to Kaimuki High, then grad from the UH. We go back to see the family pretty often, but did not last year (though Sharon did in November).
About that Book 3 cover--my parents' mailman bought the original art when I did a signing at the Ward Warehouse many, many years ago.
Mahalo.

Thank you for responding to my post Mr. Sakai! My hometown is Palolo Valley which is pretty close to Kapahulu! It's funny that you mentioned the book 3 cover signing at Ward Warehouse because that's where I first discovered Usagi Yojimbo. It was in a small comic shop called Other Realms. Small world I guess... Anyway, thank you again for writing back!
