UY Roleplay - first session.

Post by Brian Smaller »

Hi everyone. Just to let you know i ran my first ever UY roleplay game yesterday. It went really well. More humour, jokes, puns and suchlike than I have experienced during a RP session for many a long year. Oh yes, I used Instant Fuzion (GRG version of the UY RPG).

Wait til you get a Bull samurai in a china shop and you will know what I mean.

Cheers

Hi Brian.

Welcome to the dojo.

I myself am a gamer as well and own both versions of the Usagi RPG. I only wish I had a local group to play with. My local group only wants to play D&D.

Do you mind giving us some details about the adventure?

Hi Mike

Sure thing.

The party consists of a Rhino sohei called Yoshiaka; a rhino shugyosha, a fox mage/samurai; a tiger smaurai and finally a bull samurai.

I started the session with the players fighting a rearguard action in their Lord's mansion as it is being assaulted by enemy forces. THey are trapped, and their Lord decides to commit seppuku rather than fall into enemy hands. Before he commits the act he entrusts his young son (a baby in the care of a wet nurse) to the players and asks them to get the boy to safety. The Bull Samurai assists his Lord and performs exceptionally well.

A whole series of encounters ensued as they fought their way out of the burning building, snuck away through a secret passage and finally got away. There was a collosal battle with enemy samurai that they won and one ambush by brigands. The only casualty was the wet nurse, meaning that the players had to take care of the baby. At that point I handed them one of my daughter's small plush toy dogs (about baby sized) wrapped in a blanket and said that this was the baby. If they put it down, then their players put it down. It was hilariously funny wathcing them try to figure out how to do things with a kid in tow.

Many adventures and scrapes later they made it to the domains of their Lor'd brother who took them in, took charge of the boy and got them treatement for their many wounds.

Using the GRG UY game I really liked the way the ROcks, scissors, paper style of combat worked. It was easy, fast and fun.

Next session sceduled in about three weeks.

Cheers
