They asked about this so long ago, I had forgotten about this book. In fact, I have not seen it. I think they used some published UY art, and sent a few questions.

Well, they ran with the original page concept for issue one instead of the published one ;)

(spotted that in the first post and thought something looked a bit odd!)

Always like the cover to issue #92, pity I missed out on getting it...

That three page fragment was the very first Usagi story I drew. This was back in 1982 or '83. It had Usagi fighting that rhino.

When I drew Samurai part 1 for Fantagraphics' UY #1, I reworked that sequence. However, I had already introduced a rhino character (Gen), so changed it to a warthog.

The original 3-pager will be in my Cartoon Art Museum show.

Really?! All three original pages featuring Gen (as noted by Stan) are in the "Art of Usagi" pages 35-37.

I guess I must have seen the page before, but then again, it has been a while since the last time I read through the Art of Usagi book (and my memory ain't what it... what was I talking about?).
