Stan's schedule for STAPLE! expo?

Post by Jet_Jaguar »

Stan, I wanted to see if you have any idea what your schedule is going to be like at the STAPLE! expo in Austin on March 7. The website says that you're going to participate in a Q&A session. Do you have any idea when that's going to be? If anything like that is going on, I definitely want to attend. I was just curious because I'm going to be coming into Austin on March 7, and I might not get to the expo until about 1 or 2 in the afternoon (I was glad to see that it lasts until 7 pm, which will probably give me plenty of time to get some stuff signed, maybe get a sketch, and meet a few other Dojo members).

I don't know what I'm doing at Staple, but I'll participate in whatever program they have lined up for me.

Thanks for answering my question. I had a feeling that the details of what you're doing at this expo might be a little bit sketchy. Whatever ends up happening, I really look forward to being there.

Jet Jaguar, I'll be there as well with my son, so hopefully we'll get a chance to meet. I was curious about this as well, as Stan is the main reason we're coming down there.

Really looking forward to it, and to getting my hands on some of the more exclusive/elusive stuff such as sketchbooks, the 25th anniversary poster, etc.

Looks like the Dojo will be well represented at the Staples event (I think a couple of other members attending as well). I know I'm really looking forward to it!

I'll be there and I expect a friend of mine (who is a big Gen fan) to show up also. If there are any SciFi fans, I'll also have copies of an anthology comic that was made for WorldCon in Tokyo (2007) that has various works by Japanese SciFi fans/comic artists. I've got to confirm the cost, but they're neat books.

I read this on the STAPLE! Expo page a little while ago:

http://www.staple-austin.org/community/ ... -food.html
This year the concession at STAPLE! will be provided by Out There Cooking. Among the items they’ll have available will be Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, Texas Chili, a Cuban Pork Sandwich, Club Sandwich Melt and a Shrimp Salad with Jicama. Mmm-mmm.
I guess that settles the question of where to have lunch on March 7.

That sounds interesting. I'd like to have a copy.

Cool. I'll be with my friend EK (big-big-truck, her studio name) in the Auditorium. It looks like Stan will be in the hall. Looks like there will be lots of interesting stuff though.

Will there be a thread for things we can ask Stan to bring to STAPLE?

Thanks!

If possible, I'd like to pick up a 25th anniversary poster and maybe a couple of sketchbooks, but I can't really think of too many other things that I would ask Stan to bring (although I wouldn't mind if Stan happened to bring any of the color Space Usagi issues). I'm pretty satisfied with my UY collection as it is (and I'm trying to make some cutbacks on the amount that I spend on comics and DVDs and stuff like that); I'm mainly interested in bringing stuff I already have to be signed.

Woohoo! It's STAPLE! day! I hope to see you guys later today. (I guess we'll figure out some way of identifying each other).

I ran across this photo of Stan working on one of the drawings which was auctioned off at the Staples Independent Media Expo live art after-party at Red7.... Looks really cool, and it isn't even finished!
