Around the world with Usagi Yojimbo.....

The objective of this thread is just to share information and interest in the various foreign editions which have been released over the years. Unfortunately, all the information concerning the contents of the various books and comics is limited to items I have actually aquired over the last five or six years. A nice cure for boredom when your comic reading and collecting interests are extremely limited.

The Swedish cover of Usagi and Spot in armour was originally published in one of the calendars.

That particular cover was originally printed in the first UY Tide Mark calendar (for the year 2000, or somewhere around there). Fantagraphics asked if they could offer that image to their foreign licensees, since UY Book 2 is the only volume that had line-art, and not a painting, on the cover.

Unfortunately, no Japanese editions yet.

Personally, I think the actual content of some of the editions is as interesting as the covers. Take the Portuguese editions from Brazil for example.... They actually published the Samurai story line from Book 2 before the Albedo and Critter stories which appear in Book 1.....

But I also absolutely love the covers which Enigma produced for their run of Usagi Yojimbo comics.

I just got the news that UY: Daisho has been selected by the Brazilian government as sanctioned for libraries. The publisher, Devir, is very excited about this.

We just extended their contract for another 2 years, so there will definitely be more Usagi books coming out in Brazil.

Can you tell me why Devir did not release Books 4-7 (Fantagraphics) in Brazil?

Former Publisher (Via Lettera) released Books 1-3 (Fantagraphics) and Devir started releasing Book 8 (Dark Horse). I believe could be a "Fantagraphics" pendency...

Actually, the three books released by Via Lettera do not have the same corresponding contents to the first three books from Fantagraphics.....
