Usagi Yojimbo issue numbering

Post by jamesewelch »

By my estimates, issue 131 is the 185th issue (Fantagraphics + Mirage + DH, not counting one-shots, specials, etc.) or 191st (including one-shots).

Fantagraphic Books 1-38
Mirage Studios 1-16
Dark Horse 1-131

total = 38 + 16 + 131 = 185

With one-shots:
Green Perssimmon
Color Special 1-3
Summer Special
Yokai
Total = 6

Total with one-shots = 191

Has there ever been any incentive to renumber the issues with the big number 200 coming up soon? I don't mean renumber old issues, but just jump numbering sequence to match up with 200 like Marvel/DC has done with their older titles get around big numbers like 500 or 600, etc.

Is there any plans for the 200th issue? Like maybe double size 48p :)

The Summer Special doesn't really count as it's a compilation of previous stories... all the others are definitely unique though.

I think The Summer Special had a new 15 page story titled The Confession.

Yeah, you may need someone with a better knowledge of the one-shots/specials or UY editor (or Stan) to do the official counting, but either way, we're getting close to the 200th issue (within the next 6-12 months or so).

Sorry to sound like someone worried for the future of our youth, but what kind of math are they teaching these days?

1 - 38 ( 1 to 38 ) = 39?
1 - 16 = 17?
1 - 131 = 132?

C'mon, that's just - just - whatever.............

Never mind better knowledge of the one shots and specials. I'll settle for standard arithmetic.

:shock:

What about those early appearances in Albedo and Critters?

The Confession was unique to the Summer Special?

//checks

Hmmm... Stan is correct! My memory is crumbling in my elder years... I guess, in a way, this labels it sufficient to be included.

As for the arithmetic, I wasn't going to comment on it, but someone else did...! So we're up to 191 then, issue #140 apparently will be the 200th "individual" issue of Usagi by my calculation...

:? Ha, I'm probably older than you. :) I was over thinking the counting process by double counting issue number 1s. Updated original post.
