I woke up yesterday and realized my son was 12. 12! My second thought after panicking about how old I am getting was to remember that he has not yet been introduced to the wonderful world of Usagi.
This being the Year of the Rabbit and all, I figured that it was time to move him along from Batman and into the world of the rabbit bodyguard.
He's read the first six collected volumes so far. He's really lucky in that regard, in that it is sort of like discovering a really cool TV series that you missed and watching them all at once on DVD....
Being a budding artist, he is also having fun doing Usagi sketches in his sketch book.
Encouraged about this, I am reaching out to my friends who are parents who also have kids his age and such...and also telling their parents as well that they should be enjoying Usagi as well so they can discuss the incredible art, stories and history of Japan with their children.
No wonder Stan has won so many honors and awards during his lengthy career.
I think the colorist is pretty good, too. Next time he stays at my house I will hit him up to color a few of my son's drawings. Wouldn't that be great?
