What's your favorite Usagi cover?

Post by runnah4life808 »

Thought this might be fun considering the 100+ issues of UY and the soon to be 25 TPB's.

Favorite Single Issue Cover: UY# 75

Jotaro is one of my favorite characters and this cover is simply stunning. It says so much about the story without using words and it's a great example of why Mr. Sakai is a master cartoonist/comic artist. When you have a cover that's good enough for Dark Horse to exclude the "Usagi Yojimbo" logo, you know this is something special.

Favorite TPB Cover: Book 3

As a young kid, I walked into a local comic shop in Hawaii with my dad wanting to get some kind of super hero comic. Instead, my eyes caught a glimpse of a rabbit samurai and a green lizard backed by a red-orange-yellow burst of color. It was irresistible. That was the beginning of my UY fandom and that book will always be my favorite cover.

Just picked up #139 and the auburn/sepia tones are great. (I have a bit of trouble with red/green, of if I'm off, don't get upset.)

-In the letters section, there was something about a recent Usagi frog cover - to which issue does that refer?

-Will the cover gallery be updated soon?

Thanks!

#101 AWESOME!
#119 Usagi vs. Zombies
#93 possibly the best issue ever...cover art is perfect
#105 back cover art
#123B...variant with Usagi and Gen fighting Kong and Dinos

Got mulitple copies of all of them and the extras are framed and hanging up on the wall. Wish i had some original art of any of these...whoever has any of the originals is a very blessed individual.

Usagi Yojimbo #134 is the cover with the frog which was given to Ryan Hill.

Geez.... which is my favorite cover?

Talk about a very difficult question to answer, probably as hard as picking a favorite Usagi story, actually more so since there are more covers than there are stories.

UY #47 & UY #48 featuring the double wrap-around kite festival has definitely got to be my all around favorite pair of covers!

UY #47 (Dark Horse)

UY #48 (Dark Horse)

If I don't count wrap-around covers, then these two would be my choices for favorite covers.....

UY #93 and #99 (Dark Horse)

But, if I count "other" stuff, then these would have to be added to the list....

UY #14 (Enigma)

UY #10 (Enigma)

This has to be one of my favorite book covers......

My parents' mailman came to a signing I did in Hawaii, and bought the original art to that cover.
