Thank you again everyone.

I agree Buck, the most important thing is being with the ones you love and doing the things you love. Material gifts are secondary - they are still nice, but having a good time is the best gift of all.

Domo arrigatou Sensei... yes, I think it was a great day too.
UY #149 came out the day before, but I haven't had time to pick up my copy yet, so that will make another nice birthday present. I thought the Gallery Edition was originally scheduled to come out on the 21st (so I thought it would make a great present for myself). It looks like it should be out in another 2 weeks, and I'm looking forward to it.

Maka, no minicars... well, at least not for my birthday.

It was quite good! I'm not a big fan of pumpkin pie, so I was surprised I liked this soup. We should have asked, but we think it was made from Japanese pumpkin which is different from the pumpkin we use in the west for carving or pie making.

I'm not a pumpkin pie fan either, but I have made pumpkin soup with regular pumpkins that never made it to the jack-o-lantern stage. However, I prefer butternut squash soup, though I've only made it a few times. I think kabocha, or the Japanese pumpkin would make a great soup. There is a variety called "kuri (chestnut) kabocha" which has a nice, sweet, nutty flavor.

See, I'm the kind of person who likes ANY kind of pie, because you can pile whipped cream on top. And pie has pumpkins or apples in it, so it's good for you, right?
