Re: IDW Usagi Yojimbo #1
My subscription service finally delivered my copies of #1 last evening! (Except for the Julie variant, which I opted to order instead of the Kevin Eastman cover.)
I don't wish to spoil it, but I thought the subject matter was very fitting for the first new full color issue.

I really feel bad for Sasuke. The guy seems like he could never catch a break. The spirit he's with even acknowledges that he's low on energy and yet he tells him to still trudge on. Come on! Give the poor guy some rest already!

I like how this comic ended, very horror/twilight zone feel.
I am digging the addition of color too. So far, I don't miss the black & white.
We should have a letter writing contest to the editor and see if any of our letters get published in the letter section of a future issue.
Peace, maka

I'll probably always prefer Usagi in black and white. There is something in Sakai's masterful line work which really brings the inked drawings to life in that form.Maka wrote:I like how this comic ended, very horror/twilight zone feel.

That said, I am also going to really enjoy the season, while we're blessed to have it, in color. It's a treat to see Usagi in color, and will provide yet another incentive to continue to revisit the stories as IDW reprints them. And, of course, to re-purchased them in this color format. Something I'm more than happy to do.

Re: IDW Usagi Yojimbo #1
Yep, #27 (if you're counting the regular cover, so 1 regular cover + 26 variants). Though if Legends Comics and Games really does their reprint with the title graphics on the cover (instead of the original virgin cover), that'll make 28 different covers.miscatonic wrote:MAY198986 USAGI YOJIMBO #1 2ND PTG $2.59 1

edit: Gaffey was told by Legends that their reprints would not have title graphics, so should be the same as the first printing.

Isn’t it 26 covers including the second print (and assuming the replacement Legends copies are identical to the original)jabba359 wrote:Yep, #27 (if you're counting the regular cover, so 1 regular cover + 26 variants). Oops, you're right. I already had the second printing on my numbered list when I counted them (I just looked at the final number, 26, and added 1 for the second printing, forgetting I had added it alreadydavid20009 wrote: Isn’t it 26 covers including the second print (and assuming the replacement Legends copies are identical to the original)

OK, I'll chime in. Since we are counting variants, should we not be counting separately the sketch cover *blank,* plus the three other options = head shot, full commissioned art, and watercolor art? No, not every single commissioned cover, but they are distinct variants, with different prices, and I can imagine some collectors going for two or more different options.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them actual variants, but I would list them under the blank cover as various options.Shadowfax wrote:OK, I'll chime in.
