Hey gang, apologies for resurrecting an old post. I've been doing some digging and am still having a hard time figuring out exactly what content appears across these different books:
- Usagi TMNT IDW crossover hardcover normal edition
- Usagi TMNT IDW crossover hardcover expanded edition
- Usagi TMNT Dark Horse collection
- Various other versions of all of these books
Anyone have all of these handy and willing to jot down the contents?
Thanks in advance.
Casey

I only have the expanded hardcover and the Dark Horse collection and I don't have them on hand right now, but I can still be of some help.Casey Burns wrote:Hey gang, apologies for resurrecting an old post. The IDW expanded HC has Namazu, Turtle Soup and Rabbit Stew (scanned from original art), The Treaty, and a cover gallery.
The Dark Horse collection has Turtle Soup/Rabbit Stew (in regular b&w this time), The Crossing (only ever reprinted here I believe), The Treaty, Shades of Green, Namazu, and then a gallery of covers from all the stories and art Stan Sakai has drawn of the turtles.
My memory's not perfect on what's in the respective cover galleries but I'm pretty sure the above contents are at least correct. Hope this helps!

Thanks Ethan, this helps a lot. Trying to determine if I get the DH collection and the normal IDW hardcover, am I actually missing out on anything by not tracking down the expanded IDW hardcover ...

You definitely won't be missing any stories and the DH collection should have all of the extras from the expanded hardcover. I'm not sure if the regular IDW HC has Turtle Soup/Rabbit Stew, but if it doesn't the only thing you'd be missing is the original art scans for that story.Casey Burns wrote:Thanks Ethan, this helps a lot. Here's a comparison between the regular and expanded edition that I did a while back:

Being the completist that I am, I had to get all the versions.Casey Burns wrote:Couldn't possibly ask for a better breakdown, thank you Kyle

There's not much I can add to Kyle's terrific breakdown of the IDW book. However, I would like to add a few comments.
The Dark Horse book is by all means the most complete when it comes to content. It contains just about everything the IDW books have, and more.

The only negative I have about the DH book is that it is a softcover. I REALLY wish it came as a hardcover.
One other difference between the DH and IDW books is the finished pages. The IDW books have a glossy finish, while the DH book has a flat or satin finish, and the colors seem more vibrant in the IDW books.
You can't go wrong with any of them. If you want the most out of the IDW then I recommend either of the Expanded Editions. If you want the most complete story selection, then I recommend the DH book. If your'e not concerned about duplicate material, then I'd say get at least the IDW Expanded Edition and the DH collection.

Thanks Maichan, this is super helpful. I agree, a hardcover from DH would have been really nice.
