Question on Japanese Lute

Post by Redwall Templar »

A friend of mine has taken a sudden intrest to the sound of the japanese lute. He lives in the New England area, Massachussettes to be precise, and he isn't having any luck in locating a place to purchase one, localy or online. Does anyone have any suggestions for him?

He asked me and as much as I'd like to say I have the answer, I don't. Do any of you?

Took a few minutes of digging-- magic word for Google is "Shamisen"

gets him a new one, but it costs a 75,000 yen-- substantial!

Ebay has one on right now for about 1/10th that much, and three days left in the auction.

Thank you very much. I appreciate that, as does my friend. Has anyone on these forums ever played one or study it?

OH and I wanted to mention, glad that 'Musashi' enjoys my choice of avatar. It's a classic. I have fond memories of that game.
