General discussion about Usagi Yojimbo, the comics, the stories, the characters, collectibles, TV appearances, Stan Sakai, Space Usagi, Nilson & Hermy, and all other related topics.
Spotted this while looking through The Art of Usagi Yojimbo. It can be found on page 177:
The Art of Usagi Yojimbo wrote:Above: Inside front cover art for UY Volume 3 #68. These were specifically drawn by Sakai for the "Sumi-E" story arc that ran in UY Volume 3 #66-68. Two drawings were actually done for the last part, and both were used, making this one of the rare issues of Usagi Yojimbo to have two seperate inside front cover designs.
It has been discussed recently that UY Volume 3 #60, containing "Duel at Kitanoji", had two variant interiors but I have't seen anyone mention #68.
On the quoted page in The Art of Usagi Yojimbo are two drawings; one of the Godzilla-esque monster and one of the giant samurai that duel in the last part of the story. I therefore assume that these two drawings are the alternate interiors for #68 rather than the interiors #66 and/or #67.
Hmmm. I read that about 60 days ago but I can’t remember which one I have (or if I have two copies of that issue). I’ve already put the comic box back in my garage so I’m lazy to go check.
I didn’t remember reading that in art of Usagi. This would have made a great UY trivia question.

And just to confirm, the inside front covers of issues 66 & 67 ...
Thanks Brooks, I so lazy when it comes to uploading to flickr, getting the code, and then posting it here. I appreciate the assist from you. . Peace, maka
