SD Comic-Con panel

Post by Stan Sakai »

Please do not disseminate this yet as it has not been officially scheduled by San Diego Con's programming, but we will be doing a panel on the Netflix show with the show runners, director, art director, voice talents and myself. No doubt the Annecy teasers will be shown as well. We still do not know when this will be scheduled for. We will have more news about Comic-Con when we are able to announce--not only pertaining to the Netflix show but other stuff as well.

No doubt there will also be the traditional Groo panel as well.

Dear Stan,

I'm so excited to see this (assuming it will be made available online) panel and learn more about the show and other announcements. I love the behind the scenes peeks we get at panels and the process descriptions that viewers don't typically see. What an incredible team effort putting together an animated show must be with 100s of people involved in the pre-production, production, and post-production of every episode, not to mention the marketing team and those things I don't know anything about. It is amazing that these shows get done at all. :D. I'm so excited to see the show when it comes out, even thought it is tailored for young, young kids. I think that is will be fascinating to see what choices were made and how it finds an audience and what the reactions are from fans and new fans and everyone. Sounds like you all are coming towards the home stretch of this massive project in Usagi history. Good luck with the hardest part of bring it all together towards the end. Rooting for you all 1000%!

Peace, maka

There will be a Groo Panel this year, as usual, but Tom and I will not participate. Instead, Tom Yeates will take our place. The first issue of Groo Meets Tarzan will be out just about then and, since this is the first Groo comic in quite awhile, the emphasis of the panel will be on that. I don't know yet when it will be schedule for.

As for the Usagi Netflix Panel, yes, the short clips from the Annecy Film Festival will be shown.

I really want some Library Collections of Groo. How can we get that ball rolling? Actually any oversized hardcovers would do.

Groo: Friends and Foes was collected as an OHC in 2017. It is out of print currently though.

Yeah, I already own that book. I meant any oversized hardcovers of the Epic/Marvel run (120 issues) would do (Absolute, Omnibus, Library, Deluxe, etc.). They could do a Kickstarter and have it funded immediately! Unlesss they don't own the rights to Groo.

Thanks! :)

I've heard Mark Evanier say numerous times (over many years now) that Sergio wants to get it all out into the public's hands at a price the fans can afford. Not sure what exactly that means, but at least they are considering something. (I tried searching for a recent comment Mark made on Facebook not long ago, but couldn't find it. He sort of explained it without going into too much detail).

Yeah, it's tough trying to obtain those paperbacks from before Dark Horse (even alot of the DH paperbacks are going for higher than retail prices). i agree though; having a nice library edition or some deluxe format would be nice.
