I picked up a copy the day it came out. It was my Christmas present to myself. I think it was worth every penny as well. I could have paid a lot less by ordering it through Amazon.com, but I didn't want to wait. I also pre-ordered my copy from the Diamond Preview catalog through the local comic store.
Hope you had a happy holiday, Usagi.

I got mine on Dec 23rd, as stated above mine was also a christmas present to myself.
Well worth the $49.99 canadian I paid for it.
My favourite image I think was the watercolor on page 105. An absolutely beautiful piece of artwork.
Now if I could only have that blown up and placed on poster board I could cover over my girlfriends hideous prints that she bought last year (hopefully she doesnt ever visit this forum hehe).
Hmmm come to think of it maybe I will do that!
Cheers,
P.S. Happy New Year everyone!

I can sympathize - The relationship I had been in for most of the past year hit a wall a couple of days before Christmas. Holidays can be rough sometimes... Not much you can do but get up and go buy yourself a nice present!Usagi wrote:Steve Hubbell wrote: Hope you had a happy holiday, Usagi.

I'll get around to ordering the book now that the Xmas mail has cleared pretty much. Airmail is such a stretch during December...
Sorry to hear about the breakup Usagi. Then again I'm still friends with three girls I've dated in the past, so it isn't impossible. Depends how much you feel you want to stay in touch, and in truth, what the parents think.
Weird thing is, my last gf, her parents love me, most of her relatives do, and my parents still like her. All of them really wondering what on earth we were doing to break up here. But what's done is done. We're just having a load of fun just being friends.

I got mine today, the last thing I bought in 2004! (well, the last thing I bought were the tickets to get into a New Year's Eve party, but you get the point.) Right now I'm from a friend's house getting ready to go, so this will be my last post of the year.
I haven't looked at it yet, but it looks really amazing. I guess I'll read it next year
.
Happy new year everyone!

Its Ok that we broke up, in truth and admitting, it is good we did, and it saved us a great firendship, he is just going threw a rough time, and he just dont feel like he needs to date (Which we should have just stuck being friends in the very begining) But I will of course, be his one best firend, We have no hard feelings and his family loved me too- I hope that we will be able to get back together in 05....he is the only one, I really see myself with, though he was my first serious relationship- AND He DID get me a lot of things for Christmas! so he did no break up with me befor, but just because we dont date any longer dont mean I cannot be his firend, and thats gonna be my goal for the new year, to help him and get threw the Second semester of College! ^_^!
Good Luck to everyone hear, and acheave all your goals you have set! And so I will close this last chaper of the of my post for the year.....and go dance DDR till I pass out- Happy New year Yall!

Now that I have the artbook in my hands... wow... just wow. Some great stuff in there. Thank you for 20 years of Usagi Stan
Now I definitely have something proper to have you sign should you ever visit the UK.
I found pages 160 and 161 to be the most interesting. The convention art of 1989 that was redrawn ten year later as a cover picture. You can really see the changes in art style, drawing technique and how Usagi was imaged by Stan in that period. I presume that's why they were laid out like that, or just coincidence?

I drove last Friday during L.A.'s version of a monsoon all over the city and finally found one copy-- great book! But I'd forgotten how Usagi use to look so much smaller back in the day. I'm glad the Mirage pages were included, but it would have been nice to see some more color.
I'm trusting that if I drag this thing to Comic-Con this summer, I'll be able to get it autographed.

My copy arrived in the mail today. A very nicely produced book. I like the vellum (?) sheets that separate the chapters. Since I have seen most of the artwork already, what interested me the most was the guest gallery. My favorite has to be Geof Darrow's interpretation of Usagi. That is the one that really blew me away. Really a good example of how much style can affect your attitude to a character. If you are reading this Stan, I wonder if you will permit me to ask if you got to keep any of the artwork submitted from your peers?

Frank Miller no longer sells his artwork, so he gave me his piece. He's a very nice guy. I got to know him a couple of years ago when we were guests at an anime convention. He also did a neat drawing of "Batbear" in Sharon's bear drawing book. His is the only piece that was printed in the Art of UY that I currently own.Wily Pueo wrote: If you are reading this Stan, I wonder if you will permit me to ask if you got to keep any of the artwork submitted from your peers?

Geoff is also a good friend. We traded drawings some years ago. I got a neat Bourbon Threat piece. He also did a Space Usagi drawing in my drawing book.
Matt Wagner and I traded drawings last year. I got a neat Grendel piece.
