UY collector's watch - need details

Post by Shadowfax »

Hey all you savvy Usagi fans and collectors. Can anyone tell me more about the Dark Horse wrist watch, limited edition of 1,000 etc. etc.

I have seen one with a colored image of Usagi on the face, and a number etched on the metal part of the watch, "xxx / 1,000." This seemed like the real deal.

I have also seen watches selling on Ebay, with a silver on black etched image of Usagi, and apparently a separate "certificate" with the number on it. This one strikes me as being a possible knock-off or fake, especially since they are almost *always* available on Ebay for about $25.00 How many of 1,000 could still be available??

Guidance and advise would be appreciated. Even just a description of your own Usagi watch would be helpful.
thanks,

Not sure if you've been here yet:

I have not seen one with a colored Usagi in the background. I would defer that to Stan.

The one I own is the same as pictured on this site and DHC's. I got it from Stan so it's safe to say it's the real McCoy.

The watches were licensed through Dark Horse to a company in (I think) Germany. They retailed for about $50 US. They are very good watches, but batteries have probably run down by now.

Thanks all! This is a good deal then, and the battery easily replaced. Actually, I think the wooden case decorated with Stan Sakai's chop mark is the best part of the deal!

I was really pleased with the boxes. Dark Horse was nice enough to mock up 4 variations-- a red one, a white one and one of natural wood. I chose to go with the black one because it looked the most like a Japanese lacquered box.

I use one of the other boxes to keep my spare change.
