Post by Steve Hubbell »

I want to add the few autobiographical stories that Stan Sakai published to my combination comic collection / bibliography list, but I can't seem to lay my hands on a couple of the items...

I would like the title and number of pages (length) for the following two stories...

DARK HORSE MAVERICK 2000
Dark Horse Comics
Pub. Date: July 19, 2000
Format: b/w, 48 pages.
Stan Sakai provides a couple page tour diary of a trip to Norway.

AUTOBIOGRAPHIX TPB
Dark Horse Comics
Pub. Date: December, 2003
Format: SC, 104pg, b&w, 6" x 9"
Stan Sakai's story of his trip to France.

Thanks for the help...

It is a graphic story, one of about a half dozen stories Stan has done now which concern trips he has made (Norway, France, New York, San Diego Comic Con), and aspects of his profession (How I Create an Issue of Usagi Yojimbo, Welcome to my Studio, It Begins), drawn out in a brief but enjoyable style.

The story about the trip to France is the only one I have not yet read.

Yes, that is it. It is drawn in a loose style, unlike Usagi, and tells of Sharon and my first trip to France. We were guests of my French publisher at the Angouleme Comics Festival, and spent a few days in Paris. It ends with the death of a patron at a table next to us in a restaurant. True story.

Gulp ! it must be strange. I lived the same thing when my plane take off to Vietnam last year.... a doctor that were going there for humanitary help got infarctus...

i have already read "How I Create an Issue of Usagi Yojimbo" in the Art, terrific ! a good complement to Akira Toriyama's "Art of Manga".
