General discussion about Usagi Yojimbo, the comics, the stories, the characters, collectibles, TV appearances, Stan Sakai, Space Usagi, Nilson & Hermy, and all other related topics.
Looking around www.myspace.com I saw that there wasn't a usagi yojimbo group there (shock horror!).
I would like to start a group/forum there in dedication towards Usagi Yojimbo, and I was wondering are there members here in the forum who are also on myspace to help start the group off.
When I get round to starting the group I'll need a picture or two and I would prefer to have permission to use UY pictures/drawings (just in case )

I signed up to myspace.com just so I can join your Usagi Yojimbo group once you get it set up.
Maybe Stan would be interested in granting permission for the use of an image or two for this group?
I have been speaking it over with Todd and I have got the go ahead (I will run/look after the group on myspace but it will mainly run by those who run the Dojo here)
I've set up a very crude group on www.myspace.com as a prototype which I can change later on.
Im afraid that you have to be a member of myspace to see the group, its free to join up and has penty to offer. The link is http://groups.myspace.com/index.cfm?fus ... =100632965 if you would like a look, join and generaly help create. As the group leader there if you have any questions, tips or suggestions about the guild layout message me there or say something in the forum there.
Although I have called it White Heron Castle it is mainly an extention to those who operate and run the Dojo here, so both will get similar posts on news and updates.
I also joined, and as Mark said approved the creation of a UYD satellite on MySpace after discussing it with a few Daimyo and Stan. I can see the UYD on MySpace as an alternative and supplement to the UY DojoBoard, for more personal discussions about Usagi and related stuff. After investigating MySpace, it appears to be a combination of LiveJournal and a Yahoo club. The creation of this group woud be similar to the UYD Mailing Discussion Group on Yahoo Groups, run by Wolfie-chan,or our Japanese satellite run by Evan "Gyumaoh" on Yahoo Japan.
The ultimate goal with MySpace is to further promote Usagi and the works of Stan Sakai, while offering UYD Members another means to communicate. The same basic rules apply (see rules and regs topic), but I imagine the topics can get more personal on MySpace. We've had to occasionally delete topics or posts that were just too off-topic for the DojoBoard, either because they were too personal in nature, or just didn't fit in well. With MySpace I see a little more relaxation in the types of discussions possible, so long as they meet the basic rules and regs.
BTW, Mark we should post the UYD's rules and regs on the MySpace site so that they are available to MySpace users.
I poked around MySpace.com briefly after I signed up and one of the groups I ran across was set up for Samurai Cinema. I thought that was kind of cool since I had not been able to find a Yahoo Group of that sort. They won't let a person post to a forum until they've been signed up with MySpace for a whole week though.
Most of the Yahoo Groups I've joined seem to be acting comatose; the Usagi yojimbo and Kazure Okami groups included. Maybe there will be a bit more activity over at MySpace

Is it possible to make another section in the Dojo? Some kind of chat section where all the off-topic posts could go to? All posts could be removed once a month or so, so it would be possible to post and discuss about anything that all the Dojoboard members would like to talk about? I like the MySpace idea, but it'd be cool too if we could talk about anything here. Well, it's just an idea

There is a forum and bulletin board so post whatever you like, as long as UY is refered to once in a while - i mainly want people to be talking there, there are now over 32 members and hardly any talking - like talking to a brick wall there.....
Post anything you like there, that ice needs to be broken and the members speaking to each other
I am thinking because it takes a week for new members to be able to post is why it may be quiet. I can't post yet myself!!!! But I am glad more members joining! 32 out of 2400 is rather small though.....
As far as an off-topic forum here on the DojoBoard, that's probably not a bad idea. I like the periodic purge idea so the database doesn't get too huge. Perhaps we add an additional "off topic" forum to the DojoBoard and have the general discussion pertain to Usagi Yojimbo, Space Usagi, Dojo activities, and other works by Stan only. Limit the focus to just the UY/Stan/Dojo stuff.
What do you all think? Can anyone think of a cool name for a UY off-topic forum? How about "Ronin Ramblings"?
Then I can change the rules and regs a tad and open it up to more than just Anime, Manga, Furries, comic books, etc. I still see the satellite on MySpace to include more personal discussions than on here. The UYD...not just the best comic book-related website on the Net, but the most flexible as well
I think that's a great idea! Off-Topic would be nice...
When a topic reaches second or third page it gets deleted. I think that would be best. There's another message board I go to, and when a topic reaches second page it gets locked. They don't like people bringing up REALLY old news.
41 members now
And considering how many of the other members are inactive that is good going - heh, I forgot about the 1 week delay.
I was sort of hopeing people can talk about whatever and UY on that forum, with any luck it will pick in in a weeks time.
Another group can be made if you like, best ask Todd 1st.
