Stan Sakai wrote:I just received the "Emerald Dragon" lithograph posters to sign, and they look wonderful. It's a large print, about 17 x 24.5 with an image area of 14 x 19.75, on high quality paper. It is an edition of 100, with 20 Artist's/Publisher's proofs. I don't know how much it will retail for, but DH hopes to sell out at San Diego.

I heard from the publisher of the UY RPG. Unfortunately, due to a printing SNAFU, it will not be ready for San Diego. They will do a limited print run of 100 copies of a trade paperback edition, which they will sell at Anthrocon (80 books) and I will have at San Diego (20 books). The trade edition will have the image of Usagi on page 135 of the Art of UY. It will sell for $30. The regular edition will be hardcover, most likely with a different cover. The reason for the change of cover art is because the original cover would not accommodate the "flavor text" they wanted to drop in. The regular edition will retail for $40 (actually $39.95). The book contains a lot of art, most notably my con drawings, some of which have appeared on the back covers of the comics.
Both of which sound fantastic. Any idea what kind of page-count the RPG book will have? Can we expect something aproximately the same size as the Goldrush RPG book, or will it be larger?

Which reminds me of a question Ive been curious about...
The short story "Hebi" which was published in the Goldrush RPG book was published in one of the ltd ed. hardcover Usagi Yojimbo books as well. Which UY book was it published in? And was it published in the RPG book first or second?

Abayo...

"Hebi" was published in "Gen's Story" (book seven).
April of 1996.

I talked to Editor Diana today. UY Book 19 is at the printer right now, and will be available at the San Diego Con.

I just received a mock up of the book today. I was mistaken about the cover image of the trade. It is a wrap-around cover that was originally used in the print for my Belgian publisher.

The cover that will be used for the regular edition will probably be the image of Usagi, sword drawn, in front of the moon (page 131 of Art of UY).

It is a 200 page book.

Please also set aside one more sketchbook for me to pick up for someone else.

Revised requests:
2 sketchbooks
1 sketchbook in Spanish (I guess)
Whatever color specials you have available-- 1 through 4 or if you have them collected.

There-- I hope that is all.

Thanks. Saturday will be the only day I will be there. :(

Cynlee, if you don't have one of the sketchbooks from the Madrid convention last year, you should plan on getting one for yourself as well. They ARE NOT the same as the sketchbooks that were available at San Diego last year. They are COOL, kind of like a tpb version of the Art of Usagi Yojimbo comics that Radio Comix put out some years ago. They also contain a reprint of the "Cooking Lesson" short story which originally was published in the "Drawing the Line" cancer benefit book, along with outline and thumbnail drawings for the story.

P.S.
They are bi-lingual, with all the text in both English and Spanish (COOL!)

Then, Stan, and this is the absolute last time I am revising this-- all of the above, and an extra one in Spanish for me.

Thanks, S.H.

And Thanks, S.S.

Steve, I love that image you post with your message. Is that an Usagi cover?

San Diego request

Post by Usagisher »

Stan,

I would like to pick up one each of the new sketchbook and the Spanish sketchbook.

As for the new litho, will you be able to hold those for us, or do we have to take our chances at the Dark Horse booth? If you can hold them I would like to get one of those also.

Thansk!

Adam.
