General discussion about Usagi Yojimbo, the comics, the stories, the characters, collectibles, TV appearances, Stan Sakai, Space Usagi, Nilson & Hermy, and all other related topics.
As much as I don't care for the old 80s cartoon all that much, the Bebop and Rocksteady inside jokes were great fun. Between that man Gen runs into with the dog, and the fact the assassin was a boar? We were howling when Gen came out all dressed up every so slightly reminiscent of another rhino-type character...ahem.
Usagi with the shades--I loved it!
He didn't seem too enthused with the hot dogs, though.
I really enjoyed seeing Usagi in action, too.
This episode can't come out on DVD soon enough for me.

Was the Assasian from Usagi Comics?
That character was created just for the episode.
This was my first time seeing the episode myself. In the past, 4Kids would send me everything for approval. It just got to the point where I trusted them enough to approval the synopsis and say, "Go with it."
I liked that they gave a little reference to Usagi's backstory--about losing his lord and becoming ronin. Perhaps a story idea for next season?
Stan brought up a great point I agreed with. I really liked Usagi's exchange with Leo. It was very true to Usagi's character, and left me wanting more. There's an attempt being made by the cartoon people to be respectful of what Usagi would be, as dropped into the TMNT world.
Yes, the reference to Usagi's lord was so nicely done it seemed to indicate the possibility of more exploration in that direction. Or at least more future stuff with Usagi and his world, because it felt like an unfinished discussion.
And actually, despite some being upset over the in-jokes to the 80s cartoon, I felt Gen was still true to character. He was going to collect the bounty at the end of the episode, that's right on target! He found out about Vegas--that would be scary. ;p His attempts to interract with the people were great, "merchant", "innkeep".... And when the cops were wanting to arrest him, he acted like I would expect a samurai-ronin would. And he left with Mikey's comics. Perfect!
I keep hoping, and crossing fingers that if Usagi got to be popular enough, there could someday be some project done that would be completely from Usagi's world, and the classical Usagi continuity. We can dream....
