My hard drive crashed, and I lost a lot of art. I've been backing stuff up, but had not done so for the past three or four. Included were some color drawings and a step-by-step look at the process of painting the cover for Tomoe's Story. A color sketchbook may not be possible this year.

The good news is that my computer was still under warranty, so I got a new hard drive for free. I just picked it up today. The bad news, of course, is that I lost everything.

Stan do you have a pc or a mac ?

It is possible to retrieve informations from a crashed hard drive (i already did it). There are also companies that do it.

Do you still have your HD ?

Wow, royal suckage time... but FanFan is right, it is quite possible much of the information can be retrieved for a price.

Good news. I did save the step-by-step of the UY 22 cover. I had it both in Previews and iPhoto (I have a Mac). I had saved the Previews before the HD crash.

That is great news!

Are you planning on having Todd post it to the Dojo when he gets back from his trip, or are you planning on including it in the next sketchbook?

Stan,

I've had my mac crash on me before as well and I was able to retrieve my work back. Datarescue is a good program to use to get back your work.

I have a lot of mac geniuses that I work with so, If you want, you can send it to me and I can see if I can retrieve your files for you. If you go to an outside source you will be charged lots of money but I can do it for free for you. Let me know.

Oh and by the way do not try to do anything with that harddrive anymore. Anymore tamperings with it will make it harder to retrieve the files.

Thank you, but the genius kept the hard drive. My current mac is only 4 months old, so not much was on it.

I recently got a little laptop that uses solid-state flash memory instead of a hard drive. I wonder if it's less prone to crashing since it doesn't have any moving parts.
