This is a lovely idea. :)

Added Don Nishimura to the list. Obviously would have sooner but the DojoBoard wasn't working for awhile!

Don Nishimura was Gary Nishimura's brother and a dear friend of mine. He lived down the street from Gary's Corner Bookstore and was a fellow car guy. We was also the producer of every UY Dojo t-shirt ever made. He had a silk-screening business that I used to administer the website storefront for. The store was called Street Image Racewear. Our arrangement was that I run the online part of the business and he does the Dojo T-shirts at cost so they would be affordable to Dojo Members. Obviously his passing is why we have not offered Dojo T-shirts in a long time. It just doesn't feel right without Don producing them,... :(

Don was also part owner of a restaurant/night club down in Cabo San Lucas and would see Sammy Hagar on a regular basis. He would entertain me with stories of his trips down to Mexico and the adventures he had as an entrepreneur of the night life scene down there. He always invited me to come visit when he was down there, but family life always held me back! (Maybe in my younger years...) He would also keep me informed on the status of his late brother Gary, who was a bit more reclusive and suffered health issues. I was close to Gary, but Don was like a brother to me. It was truly a great friendship that I will always cherish.

Don passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017. Services were held on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Rest in peace, my friend

Todd,

I'm so sorry for your loss of Don. What a great guy and great friend to you (and all of us who benefited from those Dojo T-Shirts). I'm glad you were able to share his story here.

Peace, maka
