Re: New Usagi figure shown at New York Toy Fair
PixelDan has a new video up showing the samurai Usagi and samurai Usagi w/ horse in more detail as well as a look at the large scale Usagi which I'm not sure I've seen mentioned anywhere else yet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bzzYxF ... e=youtu.be
The regular samurai Usagi is supposedly a WalMart exclusive.
I noticed that the large Usagi does have his eyebrow scar.

Very nice.
I wonder if 'Walmart exclusive' includes Asda in the UK? I'm not holding my breath, though.

I'm sure somebody here in the US can get one for you. You can't drive 5 miles without passing a Walmart or a Walmart Supercenter in Florida.

I found it in this page: http://fanboyfactor.com/2017/02/toy-fai ... ery/page/4
I'm really excited! I hope they are easy to obtain here in Mexico hehe.

Re: New Usagi figure shown at New York Toy Fair
All sorts of new toys, with the tiny Usagi probably being my favorite so far, closely followed by the large Usagi. I hope they fix the Usagi in armor, as his helmet sits in a very awkwardly high position and looks weird (at least in the photos of him on the horse).
I have to say, even though it'll be nice to get some new Usagi figures, every one I see just makes me that much more appreciative of what Roel and Roku toys did for their sculpts. Obviously, the animated TMNT has a specific style so Usagi will be changed to fit that style, but I have to admit that I don't exactly love any of the new figures. I like them, and will likely pick them all up, but none of them get me super excited.
It will be interesting to see what 3A brings us, assuming that is still happening.
Here's the large scale Usagi, in case you didn't watch the video:

Re: New Usagi figure shown at New York Toy Fair
I agree. I like them but they aren't the definitive updated figure I was hoping for. Agree also on the helmet which looks quite odd.
I'm hoping 3A does something true to the character and no in their standsrd Ashley Wood stylized version. I'm excited either way but I'm just really hoping for a detailed, comic-style, super articulated Usagi at some point. I'd love to see SH Figuarts or MAFEX get their hands on Usagi.
That being said, I'll still buy them all

I think part of the reason is that it has to fit around his... erm... whiskers? Cheek tufts? But agreed.jabba359 wrote:I hope they fix the Usagi in armor, as his helmet sits in a very awkwardly high position and looks weird (at least in the photos of him on the horse).

Well, since we're on the subject... I think the most eyebrow-raising thing about it, for me, was how small his head looks. I see all the other changes as small potatoes compared to that. A little strange, since I think these incarnations of the turtles themselves have the most childlike proportions.Obviously, the animated TMNT has a specific style so Usagi will be changed to fit that style, but I have to admit that I don't exactly love any of the new figures.
That sounds ruddy mysterious. I must've missed that one.It will be interesting to see what 3A brings us, assuming that is still happening.

I agree that the helmet doesn't seem to fit Usagi. I think Roel ruined any future "toys" for us with his awesome statues.
I do like the little Usagi and turtles. Since we'll probably never get a Pop! figure, I'll buy him.

Re: New Usagi figure shown at New York Toy Fair
I agree, the awkward helmet is what my eyes go to when I see the pics. I also think the head is to small. I think the last Usagi and Gen figures were pretty fantastic.
I'm hoping there are some little adjustments that can be made. Just not what I had pictured in my mind. However I will still walk the aisle at WalMart and get the Usagi figures. I will for sure get the 12" edition as that is a little more visually appealing that the smaller figures.
I did just receive my Roku Toys Usagi and Katsuichi statues from Roel and they are amazing. I already had the Usagi in armor statue but these pieces by Roel are the best representation so far. He set the bar pretty high.
I do think a Funko Pop Usagi would be cool!

I'd love to have a larger figure, but this one looks more simplistic (and no doubt sturdier - built for rough play from kids, no doubt). I'll pick up the smaller Usagi and catch his episodes.

I don't know if this link has been posted yet, but there are some good pictures of the Usagi figures here: http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=417&itemid=28391.

Thanks for the notice.
A different head? This one seems more in proportion, though also a little WIP.

Another video showing some photos of the basic Usagi figure.

Edit: looks like the photos PixelDan shows are the ones from the article Lobster Johnson posted a little before this.
