I bought my copy on the day of its release, and it did have a slight crease but nothing too serious. Just like with maichan's copy.

Is this the damage people are talking about?

Mine is fairly minor, and not very noticeable unless the light and angle are just right.

My copy was about the same as yours. Books get damaged much worse than this by the distributor's lack of packing care.

The owner at my local comic shop just told me today that the replacement copies will be arriving next week.
No charge if you purchased it the first time and you don't have to turn in damaged copies.

I emailed DCBS about it and they responded that they had no knowledge of the replacement. I guess that means I'll only get the one logo, whichever they got in.

My local shop had a bunch of the replacement copies on the shelf when I stopped by yesterday. They sold out of issue #1 in the first couple days after release and it looks like they sold out of the original batch of issue #2 (as they didn't have any copies left with the dark blue IDW logo). I picked up a copy of the reprint to go along with my original printing (the reprint still says it's a "first printing") just because I've been buying all the variants of issue #1, so what's another $4 to get both versions of issue #2, right?

I forgot to ask them if they be getting the issue #1 second printing, so I guess I'll inquire when I go in next week to pick up issue #3.

I have both. I'd guess they're equally common, as stores got to keep the "damaged" copies and, if I understand correctly, received an equal number of replacements.

Where did you hear about that? This is the first I've heard of a second printing and I don't see it on their current release chart.

I'd also be surprised in light of issue #2 already having been reprinted due to damage and all the shops getting given the same number of copies that they had already received, which basically already doubled the initial printing.

I looked up the sales charts and the inital printing in July shows 9,604 copies ordered (which includes a 10% reduction for returnability), so it looks like 10,671 was the original order quantity.

The next month shows issue 2 shipping 11,617 (I'd assume the majority of those were the free replacement copies). So by those numbers, it looks like the original printing had a slightly smaller run.

I also saw it. Previews has it listed, but not showing any cover art. Item number is JUL198872. In shop date is October 30, 2019.

There will not be a new cover.

Well, I guess it makes sense why the only issue to have multiple covers is the first one. I hope J. Scott Campbell, who drew the cover with Tomoe Ame on it, illustrates some of the stories in the Usagi Yojimbo Side Characters series.
