That is sloppy. :( I know Stan has nothing to do with the numbering, but somebody should tell the individual numbering these to take their time. In my opinion the the hardcovers are supposed to be something special. I'm probably in the minority though.

Stan Sakai wrote: I'm signing the tip-in plates for UY Book 30: Thieves and Spies HC now. It is an edition of 575 but I have to sign about 750 of these. DH used the template for UY Book 29 instead of the one for the last Saga book, so it says I'm also doing a drawing on each one. That means I'm doing about 750 head sketches as well as the signature.

I wish I could get an intern to do this.
I volunteer! But you would probably have a bunch of people asking for refunds the way I draw. peace, maka

Ugh, I agree. I'm sure it's a tedious, ungrateful job, but they should still take the time to do it legibly.

As for what number it is... we may never know for certain... 352? 382? 392?

Agreed. They should put at least enough effort in to make it legible. We had this same problem with the last book as well, not being able to decipher the numbering. I think it's the same person, as the "5"s look the same. For that reason alone, I think we can rule out 352, as the middle number is a single pen stroke while the 5 in my book (and almost all the 5s in the previous book) were all drawn in two strokes. Anyway, all the other 5s look completely different. I believe it's likely an incomplete 8.

That's great!

I also received mine (last week). Will post my numbers tomorrow.

A couple of mine need some minor repair, but I'm glad to have been able to get them! :D

I started trying to find all the HC's last year and I've had an absolute blast hunting them down. I'm still missing 10 of them but eventually I will find them.
Sunday morning I called about an online listing for Grasscutter thinking it was to good to be true and wow was I wrong. $75 for an AP edition that looked as if it had never been cracked open. Inside was a full finished Usagi piece from 2003. On a whim I asked if she had any other editions and she said yes, we have four more(10,11,13,17 all AP's!)so along with Grasscutter I was able to dramatically reduce my search list!
One other cool story about HC 5...stopped at my LCS a couple months ago and another customer saw me buying a recent Usagi issue(the only thing on my pull list) He said I think I have an old HC and a print...I'll sell you the #5 HC for $15 and you can have the Ronin print if you want them both. What a huge blessing!

The search continues... :)
