The hardback is beautiful. I can't let my daughter near it though, because she has a history of destroying books while she reads them. She can have the old paperbacks.

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
My copy of the UY Saga vol. 1 arrived today.
It' the # 542/ 900.
So after all pre-ordering via amazon.com did work, but it arrived in a poor shape: It has bruises at 5 corners.
It arrived in a far to large box with almost no wrapping to absorp shocks at all...
As it was opened by german customs, as an information-note by them inside indicates, I don't know who to blame.
Anyway,
I'm looking forward starting to read it in my next tea-time.
Greetings
Jens

I've never liked the way Amazon packages their books. That's why I shop elsewhere even though it may cost a little more.TigerRider wrote:So after all pre-ordering via amazon.com did work, but it arrived in a poor shape: It has bruises at 5 corners.

I once ordered a copy of Blankets by Craig Thompson and it looked like they dropped it a few times before putting it in the box.
At least you got a copy of the book.

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
This has been the most frustrating book to buy. I pre-ordered it through amazon initially but when I went to purchase it my order was gone. I then found and bought it from walmart.com for $58 and free shipping on Oct 17. After 4 weeks of waiting for it I finally contacted them and they said they made a mistake and were sorry for not shipping it out. They told me to re-order it but I told them that the price has gone up from $58 to $65 and it's actually sold out from their store. Arrghhh. Now I don't know what to do. So frustrating.
Can someone post a picture of the book next to the Fantagraphics one. I would love to see how they compare in size.

Bud Plant still has them listed at cover price + S/H. I think the total is $88.94.

I don't know how much you care about condition, but I have a book with a manufacturing defect on a couple of pages that I plan on selling/trading. Maybe we could work something out if you're interested. You can see it on the previous page.

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
By my measurements, the Fantagraphics edition is 1/16" taller x 5/16" longer. Of course, when in the slipcase, the Fantagraphics set looks even taller and sticks out even further on the shelf due to the extra depth/height of the slipcase. I actually thought the size difference was bigger than it is, as I hadn't pulled the Fantagraphics volumes out of their slipcase and put them side by side until I went to take this picture. They look noticeably larger on the bookshelf, but the UYS really isn't much smaller.roel wrote:Can someone post a picture of the book next to the Fantagraphics one. note: I just noticed I didn't get the spine of the top Fantagraphics volume lined up exactly with the spine of the UYS, making the overhang on the right side a little exaggerated.

The actual image on the printed page is a bit bigger in the Fantagraphics as well, measuring 9.25" x 6.19" vs the UYS at 9.06" x 6.00". The paper in the Fantagraphics is what I would describe as slick and glossy, whereas the UYS is more like the paper in the recent TPBs.

Hey Gaffey,
Sure I'd love to trade something for your book. I looked at budplant but don't want to pay $88 after knowing I had it for $58 and free shipping from walmart. PM with details please.

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
I'm confused:
Concerning UY Saga #2 I read at amazon:
For the HC: Dimensions 5.1 x 7.8 inches
For the Paperback: 5.9 x 0.9 x 8.3 inches
Is that a mistake, or IS the paperback bigger/ larger???
Greetings
Jens

You can't believe everything you read on Amazon!
The Dark Horse web-site has both books listed as....
.... and that matches pretty closely to my copies of UY Saga book 1, the hard cover edition is a hair larger due to the cover being larger than the interier pages.

Got my email as well, though mine should be here tomorrow. I was pretty surprised, as usually Amazon is two weeks behind on their graphic novel, comics, and tbp releases.Jubei wrote:I received an email notice from Amazon today saying my HC copy of UY Saga #2 just shipped and that I should get it by this Thursday.

Busy time of year ordering around here with the HC UY Saga #3 and 4 available for pre-order as well as HC Volume 29 and the HC Senso. I have soo many things pre-ordered right now I do not even remember what is coming when!!! Not a bad problem to have, I suppose!

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
This just got dropped off on my doorstep!

It's kind of cool to see The Green Persimmon printed in color, as my TPB has the story in black and white.

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
So, what all comes with the hardcover version of Saga? I know its signed, but is there anything else special about it?
