I wish I had a library that had Yokai! I can't wait until that one is printed in the omnibus collecting that, Space Usagi, and Senso. Until then, I'll just have to be content with my digital edition. *sob*Chopalong Slashity wrote:@Maka/maichan: Thanks for the warm welcome! I just found out that my library has paperbacks of all of the collections (including Yokai) save for some of the Fantagraphics-era books (and it apparently has e-reader versions of the missing volumes) so I'm gonna have a lot of fun playing catch-up this month!

On each show I discuss one issue of the book.
I also attempt to discuss those concepts from the book that Mr Sakai has introduced new. Terms, concepts what not in an attempt for me mainly to better understand the time period and peoples Usagi encounters in his journeys.

Well I guess, this is the place to introduce myself. Hi, I first got a Usagi Yojimbo comic when I was young and remembered I loved it since I was just starting to get interested samurai. I just recently got reintroduced to Usagi and I found this form. I like Japanese history, spirituality, the yokai (hence my username), and kabuki. So I am looking forward to being a part of this forum.

Welcome!
You will see the community here is very nice. Do not hesitate to take part in the various conversations, start your own topics, and play the games with us in the rambling and trivia sections, etc.
I also enjoy a lot the japanese folklore and yokai.

Re: Welcome New Members to the Usagi Yojimbo Dojoboard Forum
Hi,
I want to introduce myself to this great community. I use to read comics a long time ago (probably 20 years ago or something) but I never read Usagi Yojimbo. In last couple of days I came across one issue of Usagi on the web - the story about villagers protect the village from flood and, at the same time, they noticed that bandits stole their food. I don't even know the name of the story. But I was impressed by simplicity, message, drawing and script. I'm basically hooked after reading one issue.
My plan is to start reading from Fantagraphics Special Edition (2015). If someone have a better suggestion where to start please tell me.
P.S.
Sorry for my bad English, I'm not a native speaker.

Welcome to the Usagi Yojimbo Dojo Forum, Masterless Samurai, it is great to hear you really enjoyed reading The River Rising in Usagi Yojimbo #152.
That was a great story which has a little bit of history. It was originally announced way back in 2012 but Stan Sakai was offered the opportunity to work with Dark Horse publisher Mike Richardson on The 47 Ronin mini-series, and then he took some extra time off from the regular Usagi Yojimbo series to do the awesome Usagi Yojimbo: Senso mini-series. Once Stan did get back to do the regular Usagi series again, he decided to postpone the story for a bit longer and ran several other stories first.
So, after a four year wait, The River Rising was finally published.
PS, where are you located?
