Re: 2016 Convention schedule
I just added Cartoon Crossroads Columbus to the list. It is different in that it is an educational forum along with a typical convention. It will start with two days of classes, shows, and events at the OSU campus followed by a two day Expo and panels at the university library, the Columbus College of Art and Design and the Museum of Art.
I understand that Sergio and Jeff Smith will be among the guests.

Re: 2016 Convention schedule
I updated the schedule to include the UK. I thought I was to be a guest in 2017 but the invite was actually for this year, so Julie and I will be in London and Cardiff at the end of February/beginning of March. From there we will travel to Granada, Spain.
It actually works out well because I had been invited by Editions Paquet to attend Angouleme this year but had to turn it down because of scheduling conflicts. I can go next year.

According to the London Film & Comic Con web-site, they have you listed as a guest of their London show being held July 29 - 31, 2016.Stan Sakai wrote:I updated the schedule to include the UK. They do not (yet) have you listed as a guest of the London show in February or the Cardiff show in March.

That was a bit of miscommunication that has just been cleared up. I cannot make it to their July show because that is between San Diego and Boston. I do need time to decompress and get work done.Steve Hubbell wrote:

Re: 2016 Convention schedule
Oh wow, so it WILL be London next month? Great! Pity it isn't LSCC, but I may just have to get myself along to both shows then
If I do get myself to the show next month, then if anyone in Europe wants me to pick up stuff on their behalf, I can probably do that

Re: 2016 Convention schedule
We will not be going to Granada this year. The city of Granada had double booked the convention center and the dates of the Granada Comics Convention has been moved from March 11-13 to April 1-3. I had already agreed to speak at the Charles Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, CA on April 2, so I have had to cancel my appearance in Granada this year. However, they did offer to invite me next year. I am disappointed as I had already drawn the convention poster and sent them art for an exhibition. Besides, I enjoyed Granada when Sergio and I were there, and wanted to take Julie to Spain.
We will, however, still be going to London and Cardiff at the end of February/beginning of March. We are also thinking of taking the EuroStar train to Paris for a few days after Cardiff.
My apologies if you were hoping to see us in Granada this year.

Re: 2016 Convention schedule
I really miss the Holy Trinity of Stan Sakai, Sergio Aragones, and Guy Davis at Motor City Comicon. I always hold out hope that you'll return someday soon.
In the meantime, I'm going to make my best effort to get to Comic Crossroads. It's the first time in a long while that you've stopped anywhere near my neck of the woods

Have you visited The Usagi Yojimbo Dojo Annex?

I know that you have no plans to make it to the Salt Lake Comic Con this year, but I hope that I works out that you are able to come this way sometime soon! I would just love to meet you and get a picture with you in my Usagi Cosplay. Stay safe in all your travels this year! You have a really full schedule!

Re: 2016 Convention schedule
FYI...A little more detail on the September Omaha, NE stop on the Sakai 2016 tour
I met a couple of these guys at Kansas City Planet Comic Con last March and they are big fans of Stan's work. They are associated with a bindery(Houchen Bindery) and do a bunch of custom bound HC editions of comic collections. Send in your comics and they will create something really sweet. Custom covers, graphics, etc...They had a custom Usagi HC at the show which was brilliant.
I received this message from one of the participants yesterday...
