"If Rabbits Could Fly" was a fun story. It also introduces another new character in the personage of Dr. Takenoko, or as his assistant calls him -Takenoko Sensai.
Now all we need is to have a meet-up of Inspector Ishida and Dr. Takenoko...

It's great how Sakai-San has sort of done "Reverse Foreshadowing", wherein he writes a character and sets it in the future (Dr. Takeneko, Space Usagi), then 10 years later writes about a very similar character in the past. That's new to me. Maybe Jiro will show up. And Uncle Akira. I was always curious about whether or not Usagi had uncles and aunts and cousins and such. We never even saw his mother. Don't know why.

I have 2 of them.
I set up the second one to check out whether or not there was a problem joining since someone had complained about not being able to.
The original one is set up through my hotmail account and the newer one is set up through my yahoo account. The post count for the second one is/was a single digit.
I can masquerade as a newly joined Shugyosha with the second login
I hope it hasn't caused a problem.

P.S. When I get real bored, I can PM myself

Luckily, I'll get #80 today, if the store has received it. Didn't Dr. Takenoko show up in "Grasscutter" too, as the doctor who took care of Noriyuki? I don't think anyone called him Takenoko, but he did look like him.

Nah, no problem at all, just wondering if there were two of you out there.

Just me, myself, and I... but me's a little anti-social so I has one log-in and another for myself...

This story was mainly a vehicle to introduce Takenoko-sensei, who will play a pivotal role in the War of the Worlds story, if I ever get to it.

When Usagi says, "This is the second biggest headbone I've ever seen", is he referring to a previous story?
The "foreign teacher" he refers to must be DaVinci!
Very clever story!

The "headbone" line just struck me as funny.
Yes, I was referring to Da Vinci, who lived just prior to Usagi's time. The drawing I showed is of his flying machine taken from one of his sketchbooks.

There were a lot of funny lines in this story. The "Sensei" character is a very funny one.

In addition to enjoying the whole story, I got a laugh over the groggy Usagi being woke up. Then tying on his hakama.
It's because I have learned how to put on hakama, because we wear them for our iado classes. Lots of wrapping and tying....so I got a kick out of that.
Little things like that make it fun, especially in quieter story moments, it's not just "talking heads".

I had been doing Kendo for about 4 months before anyone explained what the "spoon" in the back of the hakama was for

but boy howdy does it help getting them to seat and stay corectly.
