Auschwitz Anniversary

I know this is off topic to the Dojo- but it inflected a lot of peoples lives, some of us might have been dear family. I really hope this will stay...
Well my Grand Da called me today, and told us all to pray for the Jews' who had died in Auschwitz over 60 years ago, Today, marks the Anniversary. This brought siolent to my sister and I today at class- and we did not talk about it, If anyone evin know, or cared, if we might have said something, we might have gotten mocked or picked on, yes college folks are immature.
Presidents Aleksander Kwasniewski of Poland, Vladimir Putin of Russia, and Moshe Katsav of Israel also attended the ceremony. Also German President Horst Koehler was present, but plans called for him to remain silent in token acknowledgment of his country’s role as perpetrator of the Holocaust, in which 6 million Jews died during World War II.
I wish that Germany , thought this happend 60 years ago, would have been alloud to speek. Atleast put some sorrow or sympathy for the lives lost, and a sorry...I tihnk that would have been a good thing, reather then telling Germany not to speek.
I told my Grand da to go and lay down some- I really dislike lissioning to him speek, espeacilly when he refewses to speek english. I really dont like people blaming all the German people, some did not have a choise in doing what had happend, and just like the survivers, the people who caused the deaths- Live in hell on earth.
But, please, take some time out of your busy schedual and remember.

Yes of course. It is very good think to remember about all of these terrible things... :/ and i think it is very important to remember so Auschwitz Chambers of Death were build by German Nazi Army people (even if that army had got slavers like a Jews or Polish people... :/ )
and this 6000000 peoples died were NOT ONLY Jews , but also Polish, Romanians, and others prisoners...
ruins of chambers of death still are in Auschwitz (Oswiecim /pl.)
and it is true... not another fairy tale... :/

Auschwitz is about an hour outside of Cracow, and I was disappointed that I did not have the time to go there when I was in Poland. A friend of mine went there years ago, and told me it was very moving experience. On the other hand, I heard it's become quite a tourist attraction in the last few years.

Greetings from Poland!
I was in Poland in October. I went all over the country, signing at various EMPIK stores. One of the cities I visited was Gdansk, which, I think, is a little east of Leba. The people of Poland are wonderful, and I would enjoy returning.
I did get an invitation from the organizer of the Lodz comics festival to be a guest again, and I probably will in a few years.

I do not see how this subject matter can ever get old. No doubt it has great importance that it is not forgotten. I was trying to respond to the very first post some weeks back but, I did not know really what to start off with or what to say. I am not jewish. I am not polish. Everytime I started a reply, I felt ignorant as I haven't the slightest clue what it must have been like to fear as much as victims of the nazi do about this. From what I have read and photos I've seen online, ect....It looks like one in the hands of those troopers and their doctors, one should fear life more than death. So, I stopped.
There is no better way for me to put it than this. The Nazis were nothing more than a regiment of psycopathic murderers. Each and every nazi is no better than the legendary Jack the Ripper, Ed Gein and all of those other sickos.
Just the other day I was reading a little bit about this subject. Before 1939, HG Wells is said to have spoken out his thoughts on Hitler. The intelligent man that clearly Wells was, could see what at that point, that Hitler was a dangerous individual. And all these nay sayers at the time critisized him for his opinion.
I also have to ask, did anyone else read articles that Prescott Bush, grandfather of Geaorge Bush, was a political backer of Hitler before, and a financial one at that?

I see. I was not meaning to see it as old as in history old, but just the thread, I did not think the Mods would let it through- and when I came back- it was hear, so thats what I mean, because I posted this the day the camp was Liborated.
I understand what you are saying about the Nazis' but I am also a little offended, but nothing I have never hurd befor, because I have different views of the war, I sit by the fence on this Matter. But I do respect your oppenion, but i have to disagree with it to a degree. I had family involved in the war, and from them...it is a horrible thing to ever bring up..thats why I said "just like the survivers, the people who caused the deaths- Live in hell on earth."...
You can read about the Auschwitz Anniversary and Mu Views of Nazi Germany in the DA acount.

That is one of my life goals is to see Auschwitz. I have always been interested in this, and though, no matter how unpleasent the trip might be, I think it is good for everyone to see, I think. i am very fond of the Gates though outside the camp ...I tihnk they might Say "Work make you Free"- or something a long the line of that- I personally think that would be a great adventure to see- I hope one day, you will get the chance to viste Auschwitz too-

If I offended publicly, it would be rude of me not to post publicly with just one response. Wouldn't be very honrable. My intention was not to offend and I am sorry that it ended up as an offense. What it was meant to be was simply a comparison. Perhapse it was my choice of presentation, maybe not astute enough.
I have strong feelings against racism to the point that, were I ever to find out any of my own family members participated in anything like that, I'd disown them personaly for the cause of such deaths. And were it something in present time, I'd turn them in to the law. So it is nothing personal to anyone here.

Its, ok, I know your just stating your oppinion and such...but keep in mind too, though, there were people who did help out the jews too....
I would think most of the people who participated in that are long dead, or have served their times and have long cense moved on with their lives I think
