Let us know if you will be at the San Diego Con this year and would be interested in participating in a UYD Breakfast or Dinner event. Also, recommend places and what days you will be there! Arigato!

I hope to be there this year, all four days-- though that means driving back and forth from So. Pasadena.

I'm a first timer at the SDCC, but I booked my room and I'll be there (I was pleased to get a really nice room despite the demand). I obviously couldn't suggest a place, since I've never been there, but I'll be there for whatever is decided. Breakfast, dinner, it's all OK to me.

If everyone wants the easiest solution for a breakfast meeting, there's the one another group has used with meeting another comic book creator a couple times.
The Mariott, the hotel next to the Con. You walk into the main lobby and go left. Past the gift shops, it has a coffee and pastry shop in there with some fine choices. Maybe not the cheapest thing, but reasonable enough considering you're in San Diego and it's cheaper than the con itself. There are lots of tables and chairs in the area, no reservations are involved, and we've had 12-18 of us in there without problems finding places to sit and chat. Because it's close to the Con, you walk right over from it, and the shuttle buses run to the Mariott so no matter what hotel you're in, if you're on the shuttle route, you can get there.
However, if you wanted eggs and bacon type of breakfast, it wouldn't work.
I'll admit I don't know a lot about the Gas Lamp area and restaurants for breakfast. Our group usually has our breakfast munchies at the hotel.

Hrm, I have a room reserved, but I am still only 50/50 on whether I will actually be able to attend this year. If I do go, I would prefer to meet at breakfast before the con. Saturday might be better just because there will be more con experiences to talk about. The Mariott plan seems like a good one to me--I want to avoid any extra walking about considering the miles and miles of walking ending up being made in the convention hall itself. Todd, remember how haggard I looked on the last day of the 2003 con?

Yes I do actually, over by where the art show was. Even VB was like, "what happened to THAT poor guy????"

By day four the con is enough to wipe out even the most die hard Usagi fan. And you're about the die-hardest UY otaku I know, Mr. Albedo NR 2 Cover-Owner.

My secret to how I manage all 4 + 1/3 days of San D Con?
Things like hiking Half Dome in Yosemite. (17 miles, 4,800' elevation gain and then loss in 12 hours or so of hiking)
Showing my horse at multi-day shows.
That stuff makes a 4 day convention a breeze. Although I wouldn't suggest my techniques will work for everyone else.
Just pace yourself and enjoy every moment.
I'm supposed to be doing more cosplaying this year, that also helps one keep a fresh mind to having fun.
But having a breakfast with UY members where we can actually talk to each for a few minutes should be a really great thing!
