At my webpage on deviantart I came up with this "joke" about Inazuma and Jei as a potential couple (link ---> http://hakucho.deviantart.com/journal/4868651/ )
But now I'm beginning to wonder whether I could actually be RIGHT!
the only evidence I have that they MIGHT be a potential couple is that:
Stan created/chose Inazuma to inherit Jei's "black soul" (am I correct?)
When Keiko convinces Jei in Grasscutter arc that they must do something to help Inazuma, as she feels that there is something special about her and Jei says "You're right". Well, it could be a hint that he was planning to come back from the dead but I doubt that he reckoned that he was going to die.
What does everyone else think? Am I reading too much into it?
Is it me or...

heh, that is funny, but you may have been reading to deep into grasscutter.
well...as far as i know jei-san is gone for the time been, wonder if he will come back, think it would be good if he went back to his normal (sane) self or temporaly be good for a short time.
For some reason i can imagen him with amnesia and not knowing who he is or what he used to be doing

My theory is that Jei (the person, not the demon), will return, but as a normal person. Remember the body was never found and he's been "killed" before. I just think Jei the Demon found a better opportunity by possessing Inazuma and leaving Jei the person behind. The fact that he was seemingly killed and that's why he possessed Inazuma was strictly coincidence, something Stan planted in the storyline to throw us off. Did the body just disapppear? I doubt it. I bet anything Jei the person is in prison somewhere, no doubt caught by some bounty hunter after he was found wandering around confused as all hell (no pun intended).
I think Jei the Demon is obsessed with killing Usagi, whom he sees as his nemesis, the exact opposite of what he represents. When Inazuma entered the picture, he knew what he had to do. Ditch Jei the person and possess Inazuma. Think about it. How many times has Jei the person lost against Usagi? The demon spearman is not skilled enough to best Usagi one-on-one. Inazuma, however, is. Stan has pointed out that Inazuma is more skilled than Usagi and has the ability best him in a duel. Jei the Demon probably figured this out and found it the perfect opportunity to finally turn the tables on our long eared Ronin. He probably needed something major to happen in order for him to exit Jei and enter Inazuma, and Grasscutter was the key. Perhaps that was the significance of Grasscutter the whole time.
When Jei the person does return, I bet it will be Usagi who somehow comes across him, recognizes him, and that's when he begins to tell Usagi his origin story. The conclusion of Jei's story will be when he is possessed by the demon, because that's where his memory ends. Perhaps Jei the person had some dealings with the gods, Grasscutter, etc before and that's what led to his subsequent possession.
Damn I think I'm reading too far into it now...

heh-heh, very interesting, it sounds like a good side story.
Might not happen those as the last time I saw Jei (the person) was after he was stabbed with the grasscutter in book 12 before discentergrating into dust.
Was he struck by lightening (again) as well? Can't remember, my book is at home and im elsewhere

Just wild theories. Who knows what Stan *really* has up his sleeve!!!!
Thing is, Stan is planning a Jei origin story, and it has to be told as a flashback somehow... either in the Inazuma dream sequence I speculated on before, or the abovementioned theory. Thing is, is it Usagi who gets to know about Jei's origin, or someone else, like Inazuma...?

No, just some demon who goes around choosing a "host" to possess. Jei the Person was probably actually just some hapless samurai who happened to peak Jei the Demon's interest... perhaps Jei the Person was somehow involved with Jei the Demon's previous host...maybe that'll turn up in the origin story... We don't even know what Jei the Demon's actual name is...Inazuma still goes by Inazuma... perhaps we should call him Jei-Oni or something...
remember, this is all speculation and is probably more complex than what Stan is planning, but it's fun to conjure up these theories....
