Usagi bonanza on eBay...

Post by fiawol »

Wow! If you're an Usagi collector, there's some REALLY cool stuff on eBa right now. Here's the cover artwork to issue #1...

and a Usagi painting, purportedly cover artwork from an issue of Space Usagi...

although the shape makes it a little unusual for cover artwork. Plus a few sundry sketches as well. So, is it a great time to be a collector or what?

It isn't a cover from any one of the 9 issues of Space Usagi I have, or from the paperback or hardcover Space Usagi collected volume.

The art "looks" like Stan's art but it isn't signed, which is very strange... It might be something which was produced for one of the proposed animated series...

Maybe Stan can provide some insight into it's history.
SPACE USAGI 1992
Here is a rare original painting of the main characters from the Space Usagi Comics. This is an original painting done in ink and airbrush on Mirage comics paper stock. Most likely the final image for the cover art. Art is done by Stan Sakai depicting Samuroid, Livia and Usagi.
Overall Page Size 11 x 17 Inches. 21190-CA
Several other items from this comic series have just been found as well. E-mail for details.

That was done as a promotion for the Space Usagi proposed TV series. I don't remember if the inks were redrawn by the colorist, or if it was colored directly over my inks. It was about 10 years ago, and there was a lot of art produced over such a short time.
