This is why I love Usagi Yojimbo!

There are so many different stories going on that connect together.
Gen, Usagi, Inazuma, Sanshobo, Lord Kotetsu, and Jei!

I never know if I should root for Jei or not! Sometimes he just kills everyone and sometimes he spares people who aren't 'evil'. The character is just way too cool.

I finished reading Grasscutter last night. Well, the comic part. I still have to read all the notes.
Wow is all I can say. This has to be one of the best comic arcs I have EVER read.

Was anyone else bummed that Usagi stabbed Jei in the back as he ran towards Keiko?

The ending I was surprised by. Jei is now possesing Inazuma? How long does that last for? Is she still currently possesed by Jei?

I figure in a couple of weeks I will be caught up on all the trades and I can start reading the individual issues as they come in.

Yup, Inazuma-san's still possessed by Jei, although she seems to try and "fight" it at times (see issue 80).

Jei's an awesome character, and even when he's possessing somebody he's still cool! Case in point the scene where Keiko goes "I'm looking for you...Auntie." Such an awesome scene!

Hopefully we'll be getting the guy's background story soon from Stan.

By the way, have you checked out the sequel to Grasscutter yet?

I agree. Jei is an excellent character.

I just got issue 80 this week but have not read it yet.

I wonder if Stan has any plans to revert Jei back to his original form. I just loved the visual of Jei standing there.

Yes he was. Shingen is (was, since he is dead now) my absolute favourite character.

I would love to see a flashback with Shingen in it.

I think that might be possible, since Usagi clearly had a run-in with him in the past (the story Runaways). But it could actually be more likely that we'll get one from Chizu, since Shingen was her older brother...

I cant pick up GrassCutter #1 at my library

Have you requested your librarian put the book on the shelf?
Does your library have interlibrary loan where you can order books from other libraries?
Is there someone, a teacher perhaps, who could buy the book and donate it to the library?
Librarians are usually our allies.

One good selling point to get your libraries to order the UY books are the literary awards the series have received: Parents Choice Award, American Library Association Award, and 4 YALSAs (Young Adult Library Services Awards).

As well as the fact that "Grasscutter" was also used as part of the curriculum for a class in Japanese history at the University of Oregon - in Portland.
