Question: Autumn (V2:3) Homage to Sandman?

Hello UY Fans and Mr. Sakai,

In volume 2: issue 3 there is a back up story called Autumn. There is a captive spirit that is freed by Young Usagi. The way the spirit is drawn and the situation (including Young Usagi's "it was only a dream" sequence) seems to be a very clear homage to Neil's and Sam's Sandman.

Question: What inspired you to write this short story? Have Neil and you ever talked about it? I would assume he was pleased. "Sandman" looks great in his Yukata.

I want to say Mirage, Tom Luth, and Mr. Sakai did a fantastic job during series 2. While I still love how Stan composes the current B&W issues, the color in the Mirage series is beautiful, especially on the high quality paper. Nicely done.

Peace,

maka

Autumn was published in the early or mid-90's. I don't think I was even aware of Neil Gaiman's Sandman at the time. I started reading it when A Doll's House was printed as a trade paperback.

I do enjoy his work, though. He has a new novel just published.
