OK, I was trying to find the full image which Gaffey had posted of his Avatar, namely Usagi drawn by Sergio Aragones. I found the thread, but the image link was no longer there.

Anyways, I started to read the rest of the thread and thought it was pretty cool, but also never acted upon...

Still a very nice addition to anybody's collection who likes both Groo and Usagi... Speaking of Sergio, any word on the Usagi / Catnippon story that was mentioned several years ago? I've been meaning to ask about that for quite some time...
That's a terrific drawing. I really like the way he portrays Usagi. Incidentally, that Usagi drawing from Albedo is in my collection of Sergio drawings along with many others. For awhile, before e-mail and faxes, we had to send stuff by mail. I would sketch a drawing of Usagi and Groo on the envelope. His return envelope had them fighting. I sent back one with Usagi decapitating Groo. He sent one with Usagi walking away, cleaning his sword with Groo's head on the ground with a quizzical expression. I also have a bunch drawn on napkins, sketch paper, etc.

We plotted out that Catnippon/Usagi story a while back but haven't had time to do anything with it.

By all means, post that Daruma piece. It's a fun little drawing.

My problem is finding the envelopes. I know they're around somewhere. Also, how does one go about posting pictures here? Remember, I'm someone who can barely send e-mail.
Were these drawings ever posted? Did I somehow manage to miss seeing them? If not, is there any chance of them getting posted?

I think that particular drawing was done for a booksigning Sergio and I did at Jelly's in Hawaii. If I remember correctly, Sergio had just returned from another trip so had deadlines to catch up on. He left Hawaii the next day, but I stayed for a week.

These one day trips were not uncommon for Sergio at one time. I remember he went to either Sweden or Denmark for the opening of some small theme park. He met the king that night, then returned the next day. He probably spent more time on the plane than he did in Europe.

He doesn't travel nearly as much anymore, and certainly no quick trips like these.

That drawing looks an awful lot like one I saw at one of the late-80s (probably '89) SDCC. I remember someone pulled out a drawing of Groo and Rufferto drawn by Sergio facing off against Usagi drawn by Stan and it's owner asked if Stan could add Spot since Sergio had drawn Rufferto. Perhaps it was just a similar drawing... I took a picture of it but have no idea where it is now. Stan probably gets an awful lot of requests for Usagi vs. Groo drawings...
