Usagi Yojimbo DojoBoard

I realize that whatever happens within the pages of USAGI YOJIMBO #100 will be entirely up to Stan and Stan alone, but thought it might be fun to at least speculate. I know what the fanboy inside me would like to see, which is:

1) A no-holds-barred, smack-down, drag-out, take-no-prisoners duel-to-the-death between Usagi and Inazuma/Jei, or
2) A single-panel appearence by Hikiji.

But that's the fanboy talking, and not the reader who grew up loving USAGI. No matter what happens, I've seen enough of Stan's work to know that he always quietly finds a way to never disappoint.

I would love to see another fight between Jei and Usagi. I'd also like to see Jei get a new body again. One that looked like his old one. I love the character.

I would also like to see a conversation between Usagi and Kenichi about Jotaro.

Jei all they way. He's one of the best villains ever. If Jei/Inazuma doesn't appear in #100, that will make me a saaad panda.

I would like to see Jotrao make a return!

How about an Obake-mono story ?

I'd like to see something never-done-before in UY..here's a few suggestions:

1) A flashback story featuring Lord Mifune. Maybe it's a story that takes place in Usagi's past and it's Mifune telling Usagi how he became a samurai or something.

2) The Origin of Jei! Complete, uncut, and no-holds-barred. Maybe even a "Little Jei" story thrown in for good measure.

3) Somehow, some event brings Tomoe, Mariko, Chizu, Kitsune, and Inazuma together for an all-girl storyline. And I don't mean a tupperware party either!

4) The Origin of Katsuichi! Was he secretly raised and trained by a tribe of Tengu? What secrets does he hold? Who were the previous students that Usagi mentioned?

5) A fast-forward story featuring an aging Usagi who has taken on Jotaro's son as his padawan learner...

6) Terry Miyamoto returns to film a documentary on her ancestor, Miyamoto Usagi. Maybe she becomes a Lara Croft-type character searching for the mystical staff of Katsuichi or something...perhaps she somehow gets to meet Usagi...

7) Lord Hebi plots a coup against Hikiji...and if successful, maybe Hikiji escapes and becomes a Ronin, eventually destined to meet Usagi on the wanderer's road. Usagi finally avenges his father's death by besting Hikiji in a duel.

8 ) Neko vs. Komori vs. Mogura vs. a new band of snake-ninjas hired by Lord Hebi that can slither their way into almost anywere, making the them the perfect ninjutsu weapon.

9) An appearance of an actual dragon in UY. Something cool, like the dragon from DBC. Maybe the storyline climaxes in a Toho-style battle royal between the dragon and Zylla, who is all grown up now.

10) And last but certainly not least.... Usagi meets Nilson Groundthumper and Hermy!

I debated a long time about this.

Jei was certainly at the top of the list for UY #100, but I thought it was too early to bring him back. Usagi has not even met up with Inazuma yet. as far as i remember, Usagi doesn,t know that she inherited the dark soul.

I'll reveal a few more bits on the mailing list.

Usagi rallies a group of Mifune ronin and leads a rebellion against Hikiji, maybe with some finacial backing of Noriuki or a la "47 Ronin" and they just walk in a kill the bastid...oh wait, Usagi would have to seppuku afterward...ummm never mind.

I picture them all sitting around a table in a inn somewhere, like Sex in the City and talking about Usagi. Then at the end he walks in and they all give him the "You better pick me" look. Now that would scare even the most hardened warrior.

Ah darn, I was hoping to find out Jei's origins soon =P

I think that another mention of the Shadow Lord would be better than a re-appearance...it's better if you can't see your enemy as he works his heinious plans into action


Lord Mifune flashback with Usagi sounds like a great idea, Todd. And it seems very fitting for the 100th issue

Jei doesn't need to come back yet. A confrontation between Usagi and Inazuma/Jei (or just Usagi finally discovering that Inazuma is possessed by Jei's essence) would be more than enough for UY #100, or any of the issues leading up to it.

I often wondered how the "Gals of Usagi" would interact. I mean you have every type of woman in that bunch...the delicate stay-at-home mom type (Mariko), the crafty, sneaky yet sexy type (Kitsune), the wild, adventurous, always-on-the-run type (Chizu), the strong-willed honor-bound warrior type (Tomoe), and the nomadic divorcee-turned-crazed-demon-possessed killer type (Inazuma). Okay so maybe Inazuma isn't your typical gal, but what would they do? Compare notes on Usagi? Obviously Mariko would have the most experience, with Tomoe probably becoming the most jealous of the bunch...Kitsune would play with everyone and probably piss them all off...Chizu would probably pretend like she didn't know him...and Inazuma would fantasize about how great Usagi's head would look at the end of her spear. You gotta wonder...

Ha...take away the "demon-posessed" part of Inazuma and true enough you got all the female archetypes. AND they all got a thing for Usagi. I swear, he is a bigger player than Daredevil.
