A question for Stan

Hey, Mr. Sakai

Eh, I know that this is sort of old news and all, but I haven't been back on the forum in months, and I wanted to ask you a question.

I had heard that you had attended Anthrocon the year before last. I know that this was probably your first furcon that you'd ever attended, and that you took your entire family with you.

I was wondering, are you going to visit any other furcons in the future? From what I hear, you really enjoyed it.

I'm a part of the furry fandom myself, so I was just wondering since I know that most people involved with anthromorphics are somewhat leary to attend furcons, considering the furry fandom's 'seedy' nature. (Unfair, actually)

I was a guest of Anthrocon two years ago, and enjoyed it so much I attended on my own last year (2005), though I was stuck at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport for most of that time.

I am planning to be at Anthrocon in Pittsburgh this year, with Guest of Honor my good friend Scott Shaw!

I have to admit that I was leery of attending a furry con, and declined Anthrocon's invitations for three years before consenting to be a guest. I had a great time. There may be a travel report of my experience somewhere in the Dojo.

I have not attended any other furry cons, except for a few hours at Confurence a while back. I will be at ICon in Stony Brook, NY which, I think, has a furry track.

When's the Pittsburgh con? I'd never been interested in attending before, but it's high time I finally met you, Stan!

Anthrocon will be held in Pittsburgh for the first time. The dates are June 15-18.

*sigh*

One day, I'm gonna convince those guys to hold the con somewhere in Georgia.....hopefully in Atlanta.

Cause let's face it, I'm too poor for plane tickets! T_T

Anyways, I can kinda understand why you'd be a bit afraid to attend, Stan. I've been in the furry fandom for about 6 years, and I know first hand that it can have a rather.....ahem....unwholsome image.

Of course, the truth is that its no more pornographic in nature than your average comiccon. After all, both have 'adults only' materials on sale, but they're very clearly marked.

Also, the fursuiters sometimes creep people out, though I know plenty of fursuiters, and trust me, they're actually pretty normal people. :) After all, they're really no more than cosplayers.
