Anime North is a wonderful convention, and Toronto is a terrific city. Unfortunately, I will not be there this year.

Its funny, but when I went up to anime north last year (to see Stan, but that's another story) I must have been the only person not in costume. It was kinda disconcerting. Like walking into a Biker Bar. Only this one had a bunch of kids walking around with enormous foam-rubber swords. But it was still sorta scary.

And I still can't get over how many couples there were. Boyfriends and girlfriends getting dressed up together.

Wow, back in the day, you'd be lucky to see one girl at a comic convention and it was usually some kid's mother who had to drive her son there. But we still thought she way hot.

How times have changed.

I don't know what you're talking about, I have been to many conventions, (Somewhere around 10-15, I'm not quite sure and don't feel like straining my memory banks to get an exact number at the moment.) and I have never been to one where everyone has cosplayed.

Yeah, a lot of people cosplay at Anime North, but not everyone.

Estee was exaggerating a bit, but anime cons, particularly Anime North, tend to have a whole lot more cosplayers than other conventions.

He's also right about the number of girls/women attending conventions. Back when I started going to cons, it was very rare to see girls there. Now, girls are pretty common. What is really neat are whole families with kids and grandparents. My two kids grew up at cons. Hannah had here first picture taken with Stan Lee when she was 4 months old. I gave Stan a copy, and when I went to see him a few weeks later it was framed and hanging on the wall next to a picture of him and then-president Reagan.

Oh yeah, I was exagerating. And there is nothing wrong with it. Wish I had the talent to make some of the great costumes they do.

We're having a Sci-Fi con next month in my area, but it's strictly a Star Trek type thing. We haven't had a comic-con of any variety near here...ever, as far as I know. Which stinks.
