Hey fellow Dojoers,

I picked these two up from Stan at Anthrocon and just wanted to let everyone know that they're absolutely worth getting. If you don't know about the sketchbooks, they're small books Stan puts together featuring convention sketches, cover concepts, and sometimes even the full development of never before seen stories. They offer great insight into the history of Usagi and his supporting characters, as well as the process involved in creating the comic.

But these two volumes are really exceptional!

Stan just finished Sketchbook 3. It features awesome, never-before-seen cover art, a short comic in which Sergio Aragones helps Stan develop an idea for an Usagi short, the early drafts and outlines for that short, the short itself (never before seen elsewhere) in which Usagi battles a Samurai skunk, a very rare incomplete non-Usagi/Nilson story Stan started work on in 1996, plus a few of Stan's funniest Usagi convention sketches yet (including one with Usagi as Luke Skywalker and Tomoe as Leia).

The Spanish Sketchbook comes very handsomely bound (it has the right binding and, I believe, dimensions to fit right alongside the regular tpbs on a bookshelf) and features a great color cover, a fantastic gallery of cover concepts, some great convention sketches including my personal favorite: The Usagi babies (someone needs to make a cartoon and plush doll line based upon these), and the "Cooking Lesson" short, along with early layout sketches and script.

These are fantastic books that have entertained me immensely. I strongly recommend grabbing them from Stan before they sell out. Sketchbook #3 is limited to 750 copies, and I'm not sure how many copies of the Spanish Sketchbook Stan has.
