I picked up issue 95 of Usagi Yojimbo and Tales of TMNT #25 yesterday.

Issue 95 was great. What a great story and such and excellent buildup to next issue. I can't way to see the showdown.

Great pinup of the Turtles and Usagi in Tales of TMNT #25. I immediately got to issue and flipped through it looking for Stan's pin up. Excellent work.

Same here.
I picked them both up yesterday, and I agree 100% about the great story and the cool pin-up.

One question though, why are the Turtles using each other's weapons? (Sorry, just Kidding  )

Agreed, I hope Shizukiri sticks around for a while.

Does 95 lead into the Boss Hamanaka storyline in the next issue? Doesn't look like it to me...but I agree, the showdown between Usagi and Shizukiri will be most awesome...

About Shizukiri, I don't remember the beard. Is that new? (I'd go into my closet and pull out the issue, but that's a lot of issues to go through...)

[Potential spoilers on UY 95 follow.....]

One of the things about this issue I liked most were the more mature themes (the cold-blooded on-panel murder of the beggar's son, the prostitute wife/girlfriend of Shizukiri, his dependancy on drink to kill, and the bloody trail left by him -- about 22 deaths at his hand?). It shows UY sticks to its guns and hasn't softened over the years, despite treatment on certain kids' shows :P Now we really get to see what this guy Shizukiri is all about -- what he's really like on the inside - a truly cold-blooded, heartless, drunken (and quite skilled) killer. I wonder, though, if he's that cold-blooded sober? It was obvious he uses the drink to soften the blows to himself...makes a confrontation with Usagi all the more interesting. Will Usagi discover this and use it against him in some way...? Can't wait to find out......awesome issue!!!!

PS: Gaffey and Mike, awesome avatars. The Sons of Shingen unite! My favorite panel:

I love that pic. Shingen is such an awesome character and even though he is dead now, still one of my favourites.

I would love to see a flashback story of him.

So estee,

Have you ever wondered why nobody here on the Dojo forums ever comment on your reviews over at ComiXtreme? I know it isn't because of the quality of your reviews or your writing skills. It is weird how you got more action on your very brief post on the Dark Horse Forum than what your well written reviews seem to generate.

You would think more replies on the ComiXtreme forum concerning a review would promote more interest for potential new readers on that forum (hint, hint)

Oh yeah, before I forget, have you been holding out on us?

I read the reviews. In fact Gaffey uses them for the UY Story Synopses section. Although now I am wondering if the sit well as synopses. I'm tempted to ask Estee if he'd be willing to write up a stand-alone synopsis for each story for the UYD... What say you, Estee?

Canadian Dojo?!? :D Actually I think it's safe to say that this version of the UYD qualifies as the North American/British/Australian/English-speaking country Dojo...(for the French-speaking Canadians, there's always the impeccable French Dojo maintained by Daimyo FanFan...). Out of curiosity, are there any Canadian editions of UY??? I always thought Canada was included in the US Distribution of comics...I could be wrong though. There are enough Canadian fans out there.

I don't see a point in a Canadian Dojo. I t hink this one works great for all english speaking folks.

Being Canadian I just assumed all the books came from the same spot. So I checked a bunch of my Usagi trades and they all say printed in Canada. What does everyone elses say?

Canada. The single comic book issues are also printed there. Looks like all UY comics in North America are Canadian editions!
